Seems of late to have been too many reports of animal cruelty featured in our news; two ten year old boys threw a kitten into traffic, it luckily survived and was taken in by the people who almost ran it down, a seventeen year old ran down a clearly terrified and distressed emu, running for its' life; in the Youtube footage of the incident you can hear people in the car laughing, obviously having the time of their lives, six ponies slaughtered by some maniac in South Australia. I don't possess the mentality to even begin to comprehend the why let alone a seeming ability to derive some form of pleasure or entertainment from the act.

I hope that parents teach their children to protect and be gentle with the innocent and defenceless and I hope that people will eventually learn to stop indiscriminate breeding of unwanted animals when so many in need already exist. A loving, happy and safe Christmas to all the animals everywhere.

I've got a Bertocchi ham for xmas. Every bite I'll take of it will produce mental pictures all the little pigs running up the hills talking to each other when they first lay sight of the Bertocchi truck coming up the winding driveway of the farm each December.

One xmas, I can see myself being vegetarian.

Chilla, what vego dish do you cook up for xmas to teach the young ones about animal cruelty in our society?

Here's an idea, maybe after the kids have got their pressys, force em to watch Food Inc before tucking into the xmas lunch?

Such preconceived ideas! No kids...oh, I also don't do Christmas in anything like a conventional manner, I'm no hypoctite and I can't and won't be shoved into anyones' box...hang on a second! What's that noise? Oh! It sounds like a drum...but it seems only I can hear it......one step, two step........ (sound of feet running, fading away...)

If you are not a hypocrite, why are you telling others what to tell their kids then?

Not "telling" anyone how to do anything, just "hoping" that they do teach their kids to be caring and gentle...it's a struggle, a bit like when your trying to work out if someones' brain is addled from drugs or if they were just born a moron?Happy Christmas Adolf you chain smoking baby you

I think you'll find Chilla was expressing his hopes Adolf and wasn't telling others to do anything. And I see no sign of hypocrisy anywhere. Do you advocate not protecting the innocent and defenceless? The examples Chilla gave are not people humanely killing animals for food. Do you believe in taking pleasure from cruel and senseless killing? Just asking.

Beautiful sentiments Chilla. Right there with you.

Adolf, this forum thread began as a small voice for the animals I care about not as a platform for you to denigrate me or how I may choose to live my life. If you feel the need to denigrate me start another thread entitled "The denigration of Chilla", you can subtitle it "The denigration of anything that I do not comprehend or believe in". I recognise that you are what is colloquially known as a 'pot stirrer', 'a rabble rouser' and don't intend intend to engage with you further, with people like you it's like putting fuel into a fire, it's Summer, it's hot, it's Christmas, I bore easily (yawning as I type this) and I simply can't be bothered. Carols by Candlelight start at 8PM WA time, you should watch them, face your fears, all those cherubic children, the religious connotations, the hot candle wax....OR go hurt yourself in the bath , I really don't care. If you have some reasonable or relevant comment to add to the forum thread about caring for animals to add feel free.

What we as society do to animals is terrible.
What the lowest people in our society is beyod belief, like those examples Chilla gave. Disgusting

BUT I eagerly await all the vego hippies putting as much effort into lobbying against man's inhumanity to man.
Never yet seen all the feral hippies protesting when a murderer gets an insufficient sentence, but they will quickly decry animal harmers or what happened to a kid overseas. Interesting what motivates the lefties.....

Maaate... don't push him, he really does that crap.
Ever since Melbourne filled up with "stinky armpit" immigrants he's been pissed... and when he's been drinking he has no self control.

There is a valid argument vegetarians cause more suffering to animals than meat eaters. To grow grain, fruit and vegetables requires the clearing and cultivation of land. This land becomes a death zone for many animals, big and small. Meanwhile land reserved for raising livestock for food can also be the home for many of the same animals that cannot live in a cultivated area.

So whether you are a vegetarian, an omnivore or carnivore, the food you eat is probably grown at the expense of animals.

It always astounds me (though it probably shouldn't having been confronted with it so often) that as soon as you say you are a vegetarian you are pictured as some bare foot, robe wearing, peace sign carrying, arm linked protesting bunny hugger! I don't eat human flesh either...so hey don't get me started on mans inhumanity to man...
When did people become so narrow minded? So afflicted with tunnel vision?, Mark Twain is attributed with having written, 'Pity the man who can spell a word only one way', I do...

don't worry, adolf if staring down the endy bit of a life wasted, chasing something from youth he was promised would justify him yet never quite being able to grasp it, all the while listening to the niggling murmur telling him it was a ruse, but never having the balls to make the stand and follow his own path..

so now as he fails and fades in his own hollow, unsatisfying glutinous excess.... he feels the need to pick apart everything that moves further beyond the reach of his petty selfish sensibilities

merry christmas adolf

I don't think veggies are as you describe, but I am quite amused by this exchange in part bcos the infamous Adolf was a vegetarian.

I seriously think more people wish they were vegetarian; I also share your views and then some on animal cruelty.

I know what you mean, I am accused of all sorts of atrocity if I shoot an animal. I must be a murderous weirdo with a perversion whereby he derives enjoyment from it.
But I was NOT labelling you as the hippie type, just presenting an alternate (yet sort of linked) viewpoint. I just find it bemusing that many vegetarians are quite leftie and are so active in protecting animals but won't do the same for man.

I also think Adolph was a bit rough and drew a long bow.....

Interesting Hitler may have been vegetarian. I became vegetarian because I couldn't stand to tolerate any form of cruelty to animals anymore (does something funny to my guts) and going vegetarian was one way of upholding my beliefs and having my say. I don't care what others choose to do, eat meat, bbq, hunt, fill ya (leather) boots....'Vivat Vivere' (Live and Let Live).

So naturally you hopped on to Seabreeze, a water sports forum, and decided to spruik your hopes, expecting everyone to give you green thumbs and not add anything else to the debate?

Because you nong:
He referred to criminal acts like throwing kittens into traffic. (Note thread is not about eating animals, it was about cruelty that is of a criminal nature)

Plenty of lefties get all up in arms about stuff like that, and save the whales, and don't eat anythign with a face blah blah - I have NEVER YET seen the same group join the protests about blokes who murdered people and how they get low penalties.

Why?

^^^^ Hey nong....

I was attempting to point out - in my Adolf way - that systematic cruelty to animals happens on a daily basis.

Just cause some lefty, childless, lentil eating ninny points out some rare random horrific acts against animals at xmas - I didn't want to let all the facts go un noticed.

I'm still not sure why he takes offence - not that I care. Everyone agrees with him, including myself.
