Hi Guys,
After leaving it to "the King" for a while to organising the awesome Islands trips (Thanks "King"), this year its going to be my turn again.
At this stage I am looking to organise a trip somewhere between the 15th of December 2012 and Feb 2013 as thats the time we allowed to fish.
Boldchin Gropher season opens in Feb 2013.
As ussually, we will be leaving Friday evening and be back Sunday late afternoon/evening and some meat, bacon and eggs will be provided for a barbeque and breakfast.
Activities includes: Windsurfing, kiting, diving surfing, fishing, drinking, spearfishing and any other activities you may think of. For more information about the boat please visit: www.abrolhosislandcharter.com.au/index.php
Are there any people interested? We need 23 people to make it happen and maximum is 25 crew.
Any preference on dates?
Cost will be $360 p/p and the tickets are transferable to your friends if you are not able to make it, but not refundable. However it is worth contacting me if you got a ticket, cant come and cant sell it as there are often people keen at the last minute.

I will publish the dates soon.
Awesome - I was just wondering the other day if it was on this year.
I am IN for sure.
I reckon late Jan is best as it gets Chrissy, new years etc, and a lot of windsurfing comps out of the way first (eg don't want it a week before or after LOC or 4 days before Christmas etc etc)
Yep mid to late Jan would be good I will be (edit) with Radman on the Kite and Standup thingys
Sorry for the shock Doggie :)
^^^^ epic indeed! Dropping anchor due to malfunction, at midnight, whilst doing 20kts in the middle of nowhere was very nearly epic!!
Epic fishing the day after the baldy ban finished - hell yeah :)
Epic cyclone threatening to kill us all - yup.
If they are the kind of memories even though the wind didn't come, I'm in again
Autumn is the go for the Abs, as long as you don't want wind. Incredible fishing and waves. First pulses of long range swell, maybe even a cyclone spinning up towards Cocos, boardshort temps, glass offs, anything from trout and baldies through to blacks on poppers.
Watch out for Mr White though, seems to be the time of year he likes to pass through too.
^ Most of us are wind junkies smicko so summer suits us, kite or windsurf if the wind is up and SUP or surf if we get a glass off or light easterly.
I keen, might depend on the dates but I should be able to swing a shift change if needed, I enjoyed the one a couple of years ago, kiter and SUPer.
Put my name down please
And I'll bring a SUP this time so I'm not mr. crankypants on the boat while everyone else is battling the frothing dragon
Yep I'd be stoked to be there, I'm able to do any and if necessary all of these dates :)

Its such an awesome place.
If there is a 4m Swell and 30 knot wind there is nowhere on earth i would rather be.
To see the end of 'that reef' all lit up breaking triple overhead out the back with not a slice of land in sight is the stuff dreams are made of.
Back in 06 I was working off the Southern Group crayfishing .We were camped at Robinson Island. We had one day/ my worst day...
We would wake up at 2am to have breakfast at the camp, the wind was screaming and the rain was pissing down- the ocean " felt angry" I knew it would be an interesting 40min drive to out to the shelf to go pull our gear.
On the way out I tried to get some sleep in the bunk but couldn't stop hitting the roof, a good 60cms every " big wave". I was starting to get worried,
As we were getting ready to start pulling pots- the skippers like " just be carefull boys, it's big out there". I couldn't see jack all, it was still pitch black. The ocean was moving so much 4 out of our 5 floats were under water.
Then dawn happened.
These swell lines were bigger than a 3 story building. I startd shaking, all i could see on the crest of these swells, were bigger swells behind bigger swells. White water everywhere! Our 65 foot boat felt so tiny- like a 12 foot tinny. At one point I did see another boat that was 300m away, it went over a wave and then vanished for 30 seconds!
Another thing I rember was the rain and the water, it was so loud. My skipper was screaming instructions- us deckies on the back gunnel couldn't hear a thing. I couldn't hear my buddy and he was 1m away.
We only pulled half our gear- too dangerious.
I did a few years over there in my glory days. Hell of a spot. Some great spots to surf there. Some pretty big stuff there as well. Still got a vid somewhere of the locals on some big stuff over there. Ah memories

Nice one.. And yes.. when the islands turn on, there is no better place to be!
Bring on the action.. At this stage thinking either the week 15-16 December or 2nd or 3rd of Feb... Let me know what you think.
My most vivid memories of the islands was a breaking a mast at Halve moon reef at 6pm with Marcel screaming over 30 cm shallow reef with my boat trying to safe me and a July trip with Chris and Russell. We where out there for a week and were waiting for a major winter front.. And boy did it came... 80 knots plus, just made it from Supers to Leos and could not get in the lagoon as each time we went side on the wind our little 28 foot sailboat blew down wind for more than 200 meters.. Then the **** hit the fan.. Tried to motor upwind to Sumo Island and with the engine blasting full boll we when backwards! Normally can do 7 knots no worries.. It was a scary trip but had some hell waves and scored Supers and windsurfed Leos with mast high waves again..
I have attached a couple of pics to refresh your memories. More can be found at:http://www.ifswa.com.au/ourlifestyleineraldton1.html

December has the best chance on wind and swell and less cyclones. Keep your fingers crossed
Mick
Sounds like an awesome trip - heard some good things about that place. Hope you get some good swell and wind.
I am now out, can't do mid Dec.
Especially after we didn't have one last year, Mick please please please tell me there will be a January trip too?
