Hi,
I am looking for someone who owns a lathe than can turn down a piece of either plastic or teflon into a "tube".
I need one or two of these pieces for a childs bike trailer I have just bought. It was second hand and came without the mounting bit for the "parent bike" I have bought a new mount but need a tubular shim thing to make it a neat fit.

All I needs is a tube about 25mm long, outer diameter 13mm and the inner hole to be about 8mm. I can provide the two joining bits for the actual measurements.
I think I'll go to a boat shop to find a suitable material.
I'm in Brisbane but can easily drive to either coast.

I can't see this job taking anymore than few minutes at the most.

If you don't own a lathe but know a workshop who could do this then let me know.

Cheers
Simon

Rather than have a lame attempt at drawing I'll show you.
I do have the supplied inserts which do fit but have flanges on the end. the tow bar attachment will not fit if these flanges are there.
At worst I will remove these flanges and use the remaining "tubes" but I would rather manufacture a tube in one piece to do the job. and if I make two I will have spare.
As stated before, the internal and external dimensions are rough due to the lack of precision measuring equipment, but they roughly are:-
Length - 25mm
inner diameter- 7 or 8mm
outer diameter - 12 or 13mm

First photo-you can see the bike hitch with the hole and the quick release that fits inside it.

2nd photo- this is how the two will be when in use, just needs the insert

3rd/4th photo- this shows the quick release with the supplied inserts

5th photo - an insert with a ruler for size perspective

How about a bit of garden hose ? From your neighbors house.... If no good you could sell it to the local head and he could use it for a bong.

can you show what it looks like when you attempt to assemble it, so i can see why and what to change?
it looks like it should fit.

What about run a drill through (or file out) the metal bracket to match the existing plastic bits? Its hardly a high speed high stress part....
