I agree!

+2, totally agree, I think this would probably half our welfare budget, however it will never happen, again too many vested interests in keeping Welfare going.

I thought the piss test was all about being safe on the job? It is your choice to work in the industry and submit to a pee test.just go on welfare and you don't have to hey?
Also, not everyone has profited from the mining boom. for some its a boom, for others a bust. Some would argue that the 'mining boom' has widened the gap between high and low socio-economic groups, thereby placing more pressure on the welfare system. Don't see how a wee test would alleviate this and I would suspect make things even harder for those trying to get back on their feet.
Alcoholism is a real disease its not a coincidence that it is a common disease in those people on the margin of our society.

I'd rather see all drugs decriminalised and government largess to all segments of the community wound back while at the same time taxes are reduced.

If an employer wants to test their employees for drug use then as long as no law is broken it is the right of the employer to test their employees. If the employee doesn't like it then they can leave the job.

Re: Urine testing for Centrelink recipients

Thank you for you suggestions regarding urine testing of welfare recipients.

We agree with you, however as you know urine testing is not free (approx $30),
and to be fair we would have to have all 4 million recipents tested 7 days a week.

The total cost of the testing would be approximately $800 million per week.

This will require increased taxes to cover the $40 billion per annum.

Please sign the attached form confirming your request for urine testing welfare recipients and permission to increase your tax rate by 10% to cover the cost of your proposal.

Thank you for being part of the democratic process.

Regards

Not sure of his name and the exact wording escapes me but a famous french Philospher once said;
" I would not trust a man who has not belived in communism by the time he reached 25. However I would not trust a man who still believes when he is 35".

Pretty well sums it up for me.

Yeah, me too. And then put my hands on my hips.

Except, as I get older I find I have no hips.

^^^ In an effort to assist Laurie, I looked to google for suitable images.

2 hours later I hadn't found anything suitable, but let's just say it was 2 hours well spent.
