ok Bob good to see that you have recognised the bleeding obvious .While you were premier you had the opportunity to act yet did nothing so now in your second bite at the political cherry and a senior member of cabinet you might try a bit harder to make some changes .As a victim of so called petty crime to the tune of numerous break ins to my car and shops and thefts of my property with acombined total of $300oo over the last 20 years I would like to see the criminal element removed from drug distribution and promotion. We all know that prohibition does not work (alcohol) .If people are stupid enough to take /snort inject drugs I am sure that it would be less prevalent without crims peddaling their trade to pay for their addiction . It is high time that someone of your staure speaks out about this, now do something about it

well at least he can smell coffee.

It would be good if Cannabis was legalized; I could grow some natural light low HTC weed, quit the booz, and be happy

Interesting thought.
My ex nieghbour was a police detective now retired. He told me that in the days before Hydro skunk, phychosis due to cannabis use was almost unheard of. Now due to the strength of pot these days it seems a real issue. Up to 40 times stronger than it was in the old bush weed days. Making it more potent to maximise black market profit.
Seems prohibition hasn't done a lot to help society in this regard.

The potency argument is rubbish...

Hydro is a cash crop for dunces who don't know what they're doing, pumping plants full of chemicals fattening them up for a six week harvest....
The plants store these chemicals and don't have time to use them before being ripped out and hung to dry by captain no idea...

People smoking hydro are smoking these chemicals, which in effect 'rust' the brain

Grow your own pot, two plants done properly will leave you with enough bud for you and your mates to smoke for the rest of the year....

If you really know what you're doing, you can make enough cannabutter from the share leaves and kiff to blow out everyone you know every weekend for an entire year ..!

By that time next seasons crop of two plants is ready (and you haven't spent a cent)

How do I know...?

My record is 7 1/2 pounds off two plants (dried bud weight)

I love the bottom comment macro(not havin a go, i like your stuff but) some may be much better for it, who really knows, most folks drink, this has affects also
What is achievment ?
If you choose to get of your head now and again cos you like it and can control the overall outcome(ie it not affect/harm others) so what
Achievment in life IMO is being happy with what you have and what talents your born with(or not) if you choose to use them for whatever well thats an individual thing

Drug laws in most country's have failed US is the worst example(of lots of things)
I would hate to be involved in how to de-crim any drug, no right answer, but as float said would be nice to see some of the crims taken out of the game and stop wasting money on chasing users

why not make alcohol & tobacco illegal as well? why pick and choose what's legal and what's not, on ABC radio today "if it wasn't for the illegal drug trade the world would be in bigger financial trouble"

Why not to legalize rape, sodomy and small theft - say up to $500, light mugging ?
In such case police force has almost nothing to do and could go sodomize itself or go on the road to issue more tickets...

He is joking, as all the above are kinda legal.
If you are are wasted on drugs you get no penalty in court, so hey, they may as well be legal.

Lets legalise drugs and have more and more people wandering around who don't know what they are doing, and when they fk up we blame the drugs and let them off.

Yaaayyyyy - total utopia.

Crap - go and sit in court and listen to the sob stories about how they offended due to drug use.
Who chose to take the drugs in the first place?

I say yet again - just because you can do illicit drugs and are OK does not mean it is good for all, or to the benefit of society to legalise it.

Look at the abject misery caused by alcohol. Do we really want to legalise other stuff?

Can't believe how many people here are druggies. I get my stoke from watersports (no, not that kind P.R)

how many people are killed because of alcohol...

either by violence, drink driving or what not..

how many people are killed by pot

driving at 40km/h...?

arguments over the last timtam....?

the thing about drugs is moderation

we have media campaigns about alcohol in moderation..

i know a senior labo(u)r party member whose been a heroin user since I've know him... (twenty years)

the answer to anything in life (except maybe windsports) is moderation

Well just shows how much work our legal system needs.
How do you know who can or can't handle what?

Do you drink? Eat ice cream? Take anything that makes you feel nice?

I'm guess yes.

Now suppose your thing is eating a natural herb or weed... because it makes you feel relaxed, helps you concentrate and helps you deal with your emotional problems... insecurities about your health, realisation on your finite existence, confusion with direction, lack of creativity... etc.

Now me being the whatever I am, weed makes me paranoid and I feel better if I temporarily give myself mild amnesia with a couple beers.

Those same beers have little effect on you, but it makes other people overconfident and more predisposed to violence... Would society benefit from this person choosing a different drug? Does the person want to be violent or high?

All drugs can be taken safely.

If a chainsaw is legal, every drug should be legal.
The problem is people know a chainsaw is dangerous, but they don't know anything about drugs.
I don't even think tobacco or alcohol should be legal unless the user has some basic idea of what it is.

Sure there are <tards who give certain drugs a bad name... but what about Coke:

Cinamon:

I'd show you alcohol and cars, but kids may be reading.

^^ Flyman.

I had a 300kw car and never crashed it or hurt anyone.
I have flown a plane a bit and did OK (still here anyway)
I have many hi powered firearms, including a US Marines .300 win mag sniper rifle (civillian version, same thing pretty much).

Thusly, we should let anyone and everyone drive fast cars, fly planes with no license and own as many guns as they want. Cos I could handle all responsibly, maybe everyone can too.

Any problems, we deal with as a health and education issue.

Sweet?

The issue is that drug taking is considered to be a legal issue rather than a health or social issue.

Its in our nature to take substances or put our bodies in situations that alter our perception. Its something most people enjoy one way or another. Some people jump out of aeroplanes to experience this. Some people smoke some marajuana.

I think the war on drugs has failed. The evidence is there its failed. Basically all the war has done is failed to restrict supply and in the process has made suppliers, especially those up the chain, incredibly rich. This wealth has allow the drug dealers to corrupt government officials. Officials have seen the wealth involved with drugs and have turned to being involved in selling drugs. The money has lead to violence and death.

Meanwhile its easy for anyone to get a hold of illegal drugs.

The whole war has failed because its been premised on the hope that stopping supply will stop people from taking drugs. This is a false hope. All it does is drive up the price so more people look at how to make money out of the market that is demanding a drug that is in short supply. Very simple, supply and demand. The only way to stop the supply is to stop the demand. If demand was looked at, ie why people take drugs, and then some ways were developed to reduce demand, then perhaps the use of drugs may reduce.

Do you see the irony in that you can legally have one of those, (what for i will never know) but my neighbour with MS can't legally grow a couple of mull plants
