Body found in Perth's Swan River
September 14, 2010, 3:07 pm

The body of a man clad in a wetsuit has been found in Perth's Swan River.

Police have appealed for public assistance in identifying the body discovered about 10.40am (WST) on Tuesday about 200m offshore from Applecross, in Perth's south.

The dead man, described as about 25 to 35 years of age, was wearing a short-sleeved wetsuit.

Police who searched the area for clues said the death did not appear to be suspicious at this stage.
Anyone who may be able to identify the man is asked to contact police on 131 444.

Er fellas.. this is someone's brother, friend, father?

Doubt the hilarity would be happening if the poor bugger was from the kiting/surfing (hell - even SUPing) fraternities?

Bit o' respect ay?

Hope it's no-one you guys above know.

Edit:

www.abc.net.au/news/2010-09-15/identity-of-body-found-in-river-believed-known/2261660

The man is thought to be a 37 year-old from West Leederville.

Family members will confirm his identity later today.

Police say his death is not suspicious and believe he may have been exercising on the river when he died.

Detective Senior Sergeant Neville Beard says the man was wearing a wetsuit.

"He's mid to late thirties, he has a fair complexion, a slim to medium yet athletic build so it would appear that he's a windsurfer or a cyclist or a triathlete or something similar," he said.

Agree - who would swim that dirge?

I guess if he was a poley they's have found his rig by now - unless some low-life found it washed up and farked orf with it?

BTW - Doggie, I know your laffs referenced the whale/funni pics thread and they were kinda-sorta funny, but a relly or friend of the poor sod could be reading this site.

Too soon is too soon.

IMO this sort of stuff shouldnt be posted on this site as we have many different types of news sites such as ABC, NINE MSN, Yahoo ect.

Same with the shark attack stuff just recently.

Also the same as politics.

If its posted its there for everybody to comment on wheather you like it or not. Sherrif.

I don't think the sheriff's worried about people commenting, he's more concerned by the content of those comments. Anonymity is not a excuse for being a boorish knob...... Log( self appointed depedy)

Just so you all know he was one of my good friends. I read the news and didnt even know it was him. Just got a call from one of our mates informing me it was him. His name is Chris. So I quickly got on the phone to his mum who asked me to be a pall bearer at his funeral this Friday. He was swimming before work and got into trouble in the strong current under the Canning Bridge and drowned. Yes he was a windsurfer. I sailed with him a few times at Pelican Point. Im actually very shocked. Still dont know what to say. Cant believe that he is gone

God bless greenroom This is what we do.
Life is just as beautiful as before and much more so in other areas of my life. I continue to grow and prosper in the blessing of today to make way for a better tomorrow. I still have my struggles and obstacles to overcome, but in the overcoming of such obstacles, a greater joy in living is produced. Without struggle there can be no growth May Gods blessing for you be great and innumerable and struggles few and far between. Take care and God Bless -

Courage, it would seem, is nothing less than the power to overcome danger, misfortune, fear, injustice, while continuing to affirm inwardly that life with all its sorrows is good; that everything is meaningful even if in a sense beyond our understanding; and that there is always tomorrow
