I've been on this site for a while, and have noticed there isn't a section on bodyboarding, honestly i was a little disappointed as there is just as many people out there who bodyboard as there is surfers, and was wondering if i can get a group of people together to support me and maybe get a bodyboarding section on the site??

Any feedback welcome.

Cheers, Kieran.

YES. Finally someone thinks the same as i do. Every time i come on seabreeze i wish that there was a forum for bodyboarding. Hopefully if we get enough people to support us and get a forum going.

we could have all kinds of forums, although we could at least have the basic water sports like bodyboarding, i mean they have surfing and kiteboarding etc. so why not include bodyboarding and really you dont have to have every possible thing like those u listed, i mean canoeing/kayaking ok but the rest, i think is going a little far...

Don't forget sunbaking! It's just as popular as bodyboarding!

EDIT: And IMHO far more extreme espescially if you wear no sunscreen

Great idea.
Lets get it started for the little tackers.

Q. I get fierce belly chafe so bad sometimes my nipples scab over.Any one got any tips?

Q. When kicking and paddling at the same time I feel really stupid. Is this normal?

Q. a) buy a better board or wear some protection.

Q.b)non-amature bodyboarders mainly just kick into the wave and hold onto the board with both arms. if you don't have any bodyboarding fins then you will not be able to just kick... therefore you will feel(and look) stupid trying to paddle and kick.

Makes it look bigger.

When the wave looks just as big and scary on a windsurf board as one did when lying down, then you know it is big and scary.

im sorry guys but the skill level of bodyboarding is so low that it is boring compared to other ocean craft. even like goat boats. this debate has been waged for years. esky lids were made for entry level kids for waves.
now the debate will go to big waves, freefalls, barrel rolls, heavy waves etc. well guess what, the skill level is still low compared to surfboards. why do you think guys like ballard, percy and the like are now stand up surfers and quite good at it?
drink some concrete, harden up and put away the little foam floaty things and become men. [}:)]

probably because some of us struggle holding our feet! I have no probs if there's a boom to hang onto.

My son (6) has just got his first wetty and we're trying to get out every weekend bodyboarding (I 'attempt' to sup on my 165lt w/surf board with him). Although I respect those adults & teens that bodyboard, I'm assuming it will lead him to surfing, and windsurfing...

Although after a couple of comments about how "KOOL" kitesurfing looked, he had his mouth washed out with soap, and won't make that mistake again!

This is all kinda true

However from my own personal perspective
I body surfed till I was 25
Started Boogie boarding @ 25 not long after it came on the scene
Started to stand up surf @ 35 took ages to get up on the mongrel thing first couple of wave landed floaters, piece of piss once you can get the standing up bit.
Not long after I cracked 40 my neck and back were giving me that much grief i slowed my surfing to the stage where I would only standup if I could afford the chiro the next day.

On a trip up to trip up to geraldton I went surfing with a mate and we skipped up the coast to Jakes, dragged the lid out as I'd been struck down with a good Lurgi, had an absolute ball, since then I have used the stand up surf board once.

Stand up surfing is more difficult than Boogie boarding, however that is only in the "getting up" part of the ride.

Boogie boarding absolutely blitzed stand up for me for pure joy, my mates who do stand up where a lot happier (and safer) that I went back to gut running (although their wave count dropped) and we still "Party wave" when we go for a wave or 3

good reason to boogie board is that they are just the right size to put under the wheels when you get bogged( and destroyed), and cheap enough to replace at Kmart

so when you bodyboarders grow pubic hair you can look up to laird hamilton and kelly slater and robby naish etc....some mature rolemodels...

so ditch your flippers and grow up... oh.. i mean standup ....
im the same elmo started of bodyboarding first then the progression lead me to standup its the first step in evolution. some people are behind and try to standup but dont quite get it...
its easiser to laydown on the job .......bludgers
