I think circumcision is a good thing. For many many years now, lots of people have tried to circumcise the globe in yachts and planes and stuff. The spirit of competition is good and as each person goes around faster than the last.... oh, hang on....

Be careful of the side effects. I got circumcised as a baby; couldn't walk for a year!

Agree. In no way justifiable on religious grounds in this day and age.

While they continue this practice it is no wonder the Jews and Arabs are so screwed up.

The female version is even more barbaric.

For each individual family ...
Do it if you want..
don't do it if you don't want...
For stuffing's sake take responsibility for what you want and need
in your family.

Nothing is set in black and white in this world....
just do the right thing...and take responsibility for the action you have taken..

goodness....free speech free world...well Australia is the last time I looked.

Indeed, if only circumcisions were performed on consenting adults, i'm sure this would not be a topic of debate.

Iirc, Bass and Flinders circumcised Australia with an 18 foot cutter.

It takes four skin divers to circumcise a whale, or so I'm told.

Perhaps it should be done at a later age, like 24. There would have been a time when someone who was uncircumcised circumcised a baby boy unless the adult decided to do it on themself. Its not fair to do it to a little baby who has no choice in the matter.

The one argument for circumcism that I've heard is that circumcism reduces the likelyhood of getting HIV/AIDS from sex with someone who has it. Apparently the incidence of HIV/AIDS is much lower in Pakistan than comparable parts of India. Pakistanis being Muslims circumcise their little baby boys while Indians generally do not.

The practice seems to be dying out just like foot binding for little Chinese girls a couple of hundred years ago.

It is amazing that the mutilation of a child's genitalia is considered normal? in this day and age or at all for that matter.

The science which proclaims less chance of infection transmission is shady at best, here is a novel idea teach your child to wash themselves. With the risk of infection post op and permanent physical damage, its astonishing that sensible adults do not consider this a horrendous thing to agree too.

Here is a question

If Circumcision was to be performed on a child for the first time next week, would it be allowed? would the department of child protection agree to it? would the parents be liable in years to come for allowing the operation to take place?

Well as far as I know, in the 1st world, there are no medical advantages to it at all.

Also, once it's chopped, apparently at later stages in life, certain activities do not feel as good.

from my information its the other way around but who really knows. need to find some one of age who has tried with and with out! ouch!!
Any one who would do it at a later age would be expecting a better "RESULT"

And they used to do things in the olden days for good reasons generally tho not sure if they are still relevant.
