I'm pushing 50, my son is pushing 20yo.
I'd like to initiate a father son holiday for a couple of weeks that we can share together, before we inevitably grow apart.
I am thinking about a motorcycle holiday through Vietnam with him next year. I know we would both love that.
I'm sure some of you wiser old blokes can shed some light on some other male bonding holiday ideas that you've done, or would like to do, with your son/s before they make their own lives.
Friends of mine have just finished planning a bike trip through America for a month and incorporating the Sturgis bike week.
The age of the group going ranges from 23 - 52y/o.
Everyone seems to be super keen.
So definately a bike trip is a great idea. Vietnam is awesome and beautiful. Biking it would be the best way to see it.

I spent a great week with my Dad as we walked the Overland track in Tassie...
Whatever you decide to do, do it before it's too late.
As Mac said, Tassie Overland Track and/or Frenchman's Cap is a good idea. Get back to Hobart and have a think about "Doc's" option!
Otherwise, I would be more inclined to hit up North America on some Dual Sport Bikes... Cruise through The Rocky's... Easy to organise, accommodation everywhere. Check out Bend in Oregon where Gerry Lopez lives. Maybe order a custom! Alternate, get a Jeep / Dodge 4WD...
The other section of the world that would be an absolute blast on Dual Sports Bikes, or even a Jeep Wrangler... Central China, and follow the Yangtze upstream towards Tibet. Have a squizz on Google Earth/Maps... The roads look quite good, and the scenery looks amazing! Would need some planning, or a guide maybe... In the other direction, The Yangtze hits the Ocean at Shanghai.
