Personally

Solitary confinement for life, an annual flogging, no public contact, no stiring up more resentment, no hero worship, no martyrdom, no rushing of to meet their god.

Just a long slow rot in obscurity.

I agree 100%. Bottom of Mt Charlot or a similar place, bricked in for the rest of their days, in preference.
Always is a great puzzle to me, how elders of any particular group can convince the younger less fortunate to carry out such acts on their fellow human beings and to a lesser extent, even on themselves

Two wrongs don't make a right !

If you hate someone and kill them, you have gone down to the level of the bombers.

They hated,they killed.

We hated,and killed.

Far better to keep them in prison for life.
We have a clear conscience, they grow old and wise ,than see the error of their ways but have to die in Jail.

Now they are Martyrs.

In this case, two out of the three did want to be executed and martyred. Amrozi was the coward.

I was thinking about this recently. I have never been pro death penalty. However no one close to me has suffered from criminal violence. Clearly vengence is part of justice. I don't know how I would feel if a member of my family or friends had been caught up in the bombing or other acts of radical Islamic terrorism.

Gotta say I agree with User here.

What disturbed me A LOT was some footage of an Australian family 'supposedly' celebrating the execution; champagne and all.

Rejoicing in their death is horrendously hypocritical the way I see it, to them we; the westernized were responsible for the deaths of a million or so innocents in the Middle East, and in a way... we were, we are represented by our government and it is unjust to hide behind democracy. Voting aside there was so much more we could have done... although yes the majority of the blame should fall on the US.

We condemned them for having no remorse and celebrating the death of our own and rightly so, BUT now for some reason people see it fit to celebrate their executions, and in fact suggest more cruel punishments . Unfortunately it seems to be self-perpetuating.

Politically this wasn't such a smart move either, they were made into martyrs.

I am in no way equating anyone here who has suggested a harsher punishment to terrorists, it takes far more than hate to do that, these guys were likely misguided and never questioned what they were told from a very young age.

I don't know how things like this can be seen as anything but sad, at best relief in the form of closure.

Good observation. THIS is unfortunately how they justified their own actions.

At the risk of getting involved in a 'heavy' conversation,

Ghandi:
An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.

Lets not get too stirred up in here though hey? Terrorism is a pretty hot topic.

I don't think the money should be wasted on keeping them alive. I would much rather terrible people be dead, than have the tax payers paying to keep them alive. And all footage i see of prisons, they don't seem bad enough. Free gym, free counceling, free food, free accommodation, free cleaning etc etc. Just no freedom, which is pretty bad, but not enough for some people.

Whether we like it or not, the prison conditions won't ever be bad enough for these people, and for me to be satisfied with them living/dying in there.

And i don't care about being down to "their level", they initiated the bad, and are being punished for it. Sometimes the appropriate punishment is death.

Don't get me wrong, as I am usually against the death penalty, but in some cases (like this one) the people deserve much worse. And when i say bad people, i mean the really bad ones ( certain murderers, rapists, mass bombing killings).

I would prefer them to rot in the most terrible conditions imaginable, but that is never going to happen, so I'd rather them be dead.

Try imagine how these victims families would feel, I know it doesn't bring their loved ones back, but at least they know their killers no longer have the privilege of life. And if anyone ever touched anyone one of my family/friends, I know I would want to make their last minutes unbearable before knocking them off.

To be honest when I saw the photos of all the supports of the bombers, all I thought was a wasted opportunity to blow the lot of them up. I think these people are the worst. How dare they try to take other peoples lives over something so uncertain and so stupid as a religious belief they are trying to force onto others.

And i don't think they got what they wanted. I highly doubt there is a lovely place packed full of virgins waiting for them.
