Mate, don't take offence, you put it out there and we are currently at 3 pages going on 4 of responses, most I understand not quite what you expected. Maybe the wording of your original post threw some people. I doubt if you had posted 2 threads one titled “Marriage Scams and Immigration” followed up by “Gay Marriage –"Should it be Legal” you would have got this response.
Without giving myself up to my “delusional belief about my intellectual superiority” I will reveal a couple of things about myself.
Yes – I do have a close association with the gay community.
No – I am not a **** – my son is. I once sat around a table drinking beer with six other blokes and I was the only 'straight' guy there.
No – I don't think I would be comfortable attending my son's wedding to another bloke therefore do not endorse gay marriage as such.
No – I do not believe that legalising of gay (homosexual) marriage will increase the influx of persons seeking refugee status by boat plane or taxicab based on that lawful liaison.
Yes – I am concerned at the number of people entering Australia using documents of dubious origin and that would include a marriage certificate. I am even more concerned about those that arrive with no documents at all.
No - I am not concerned about pseudo homosexuals obtaining residency based on sham marriages in order to create mischief. There are more than enough “Sham Heterosexual Marriages” doing that already.
I still tell '****ter' jokes; in fact some of the better ones come from my son and his mates. I still laugh at ethnic jokes whether targeted at the Irish, French, Poms, Kiwis or Moslems etc etc. I stand to defend when issues become personal and offensive, however I do understand that what I find funny, someone else may find offensive and vice versa. I refrain from swearing around women and children and don't post swear words on line. In other words I don't go out of my way to cause offence or post deliberately inflammatory remarks.
I am not going to start on 'Asylum seekers, boat people or refugees' creating false liaisons to enter the country.
