If they stuff this up, no way.

But, I think you are right. Rock bottom was yesterday. Still lots of ground to make up.

With a recession being announced in October - it's not going to be easy for them.

She is horrid.

Totally agree. Gillard's address on Sunday was akin to a kindergarten teacher explaining the ABCs to her students, some of whom are a bit dim. Perhaps that fits in with her mindset. She and her colleagues are the progressive overlords who say they are working in our interests when they make decisions we don't agree with on our behalf.

This whole carbon policy making process will go down as a farce. Its a case of the green and independent tail wagging the ALP dog. The ALP wil lbe absolutely annihilated at the next federal election just like they have been in NSW.

Rob Oakshott had a big grin on his dial when he was saying how great it was that he could visit the PM to talk about what he wanted with the carbon tax. Quite probably more than one ALP backbencher is wondering whats the point of being a member of the ALP while independents and greens have all the influence.

Bob Brown and the Greens must be laughing now. They have manouvered their biggest enemy, the ALP, into a trap.

Truly amazing an ALP government brings in a policy that will hurt manufacturing and lead to job losses for no real gain.

Maybe not.

"Business confidence slid in June, as the gap between the strongest and weakest industries neared record levels."

www.abc.net.au/news/2011-07-12/business-confidence-falls-flat/2791492

Unfortunately, this is not a surprise.

The resources sector is the Labs tall poppy, and must be brought back to the same level as the other industries - which appear to be seriously struggling under this bad government.

Off the topic but was anyone who watched Q&A just fixated on Julia's forehead? She is a poster girl for bad botox.

For Julia's sake I hope the CO2 tax does not affect the price of botox.

Question for Julia: "Can you confirm the allegation that the price of carbon may rise?"

WTF?

Seriously she could be forgiven as half of Oz is fick as a brick and only interested in the doom n gloom story of how much it will cost.

I for one would like to see a single story on what the outcome in saved polution/positive change to power useage/polution would be. Just one kn story - is that too kn much to ask!?

Media in this country are slobbish one question ponies that pander to the fick n ignorant.

And yes Gillard is grating.. but I'd take her anyday over the crazy wingnut pushing for a greater rise in ignorance.. for his own benefit.

Sorry, Wayne Swan will be forced to announced a recession on 7 September 2011.

www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf/mf/5206.0

A recession is two down quarters of GDP. We've already had one, and the next one is the June quarter, announced on 7 September 2011

Another day... another story...

Consumer confidence plummets in July:

www.abc.net.au/news/2011-07-13/consumer-confidence-plummets/2793042

Westpac's chief economist Bill Evans says the result is the lowest since May 2009, and similar to levels seen during aggressive interest rate hikes after the financial crisis and after the introduction of the GST.

"It appears that a combination of concerns over the European financial crisis; the ongoing impact of the seven interest rate hikes between October 2009 and November 2010; and uncertainty about the introduction of a price on carbon; are now really undermining the confidence of consumers," he noted in the report.

People are criticising Julia for acting like Joe public is dumb.

Maybe she has taken to heart the old motto "no-one ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the average person"

Well said Funky!!!

The mainstream of Australian media dwell far too much on the negatives. Ex-PM Paul Keating gave a great interview on Lateline last night about the media, the PM and Opposition - pity he still isn't around.

Given the alternative, Gillard is a better choice by far.

Rewind the tape all of you
If I remember correctly Julia didn't ask for this PM position.
She was forced into this position by the same forces that want to rid off her today.
If we had mining tax today we don't have to worry about carbon tax anymore.
I hate retards that make decision and blames others for consequences - you voters.

This is what your were told and believe:

In fact put yourself in this picture. And that is a real deal.

Historically and chronologically the sequence of events presents like that:
- You -voters , wanted sudden wealth redistribution, after years and prosperity under national ,so you did revokes labor monster
- As Kevin started doing just that and in smart move did try to tame that river of gold flowing overseas
( correct me if I am wrong but 87% of everything worth anything here is in the hands over there !!)
- So voters - just in time to stop mining tax (I wish you believe that you still have something to say when it comes to real money) smoked out poor Kevin out of his own country

Now tell me the truth.

Was it worth it to repeal mining tax that pay a few with carbon that we pay all?

Anybody !? recognize yourself on this picture ??
AS I TOLD YOU. WE NEED THIS T-SHIRTS AND POSTERS BACK TO THE OFFICE.
WE JUST NEED TO REPAINT ONE WORD AND YOU CAN BACK TO WORK.
THIS TIME WE PAY DOUBLE FOR YOUR TIME.
( I STILL DON'T KNOW WHY WE SHOULD BE SO GENEROUS TO THIS SCHOOL KIDS THINKING THEY DOUBLE FOR HOLLYWOOD APOCALYPSE MOVIE )

I am disappointing with PC ( political correctness ) censors .

You are allowed come and say straight in face : YOU ARE LIAR

but you can't : AND YOU ARE OLD FATTY UGLY STUPID B**.

The truth actually doesn't matter in any case.
To moderate a bit offense above, I mean that calling A LIAR in public without chance for defense could be as painful as referring to somebody else physical or mental attributes.
Anyway LADY said what she said but we don't know what color T-SHIRT she has underneath and if not on the same payroll as students above.
