interesting, I would've thought the "pumping" would've been easier with carver trucks ?
You can pump to a degree with them, they use it as marketing tool. To make it more effective you'd need a shorter board than mine& some wedging, and tweaking the bushings too.
can't police common sense.
anyone here actually skate? i used to a bit and still do now a little.... i also had my fair share of head dents and a couple of nasty ones so now its helmet every time for me.
Used to skate when I was a kid. Grazes was the worst I got... but I fell off my bike and hit my head more times than I can remember street hockey was pretty bad too...
I love the photos of the boards.
They look very cool
Thanks captain, I was getting a bit guilty for taking over your thread..

You just reminded me, I played 1 game of competition roller hockey in a rink at 17, had a big stack, hit the back of my head on floor despite a helmet, and have a massive calcified lump on the back of my head to this day. Brutal game. helmet useless that time
Then I saw this beast on Gumtree (after much scouring) and fell in love. Beautiful board and also quite unusual:
Original Torpedo 40", S10 trucks (10" hangar width, springs), and Orangatang In-Heats 75mm wheels.
This board is just gorgeous, I look at it like a new Lamborghini owner must look at his car.
You should be able to pump that board, it is a bit harder with the wider trucks, but being originals makes it heaps easier to do.....I find the good old Bennett trucks to be some of the best trucks for pumping.
On the helmet topic... I never wore one growing up unless I was skating vert. funny thing is I smashed my head way more times skating street. I know a pro downhill skater who hopped on his board to go to the shop, went 2 feet down the driveway and hit a stone, got pitched into the letterbox. He then spent the major part of the year in hospital. It is also pretty frowned upon in most longboard circles to not wear a lid. **** happens when you least expect it to

Thats a sic looking board, how does it go?
Was the helmet actually designed for the sport?
Probably not. I was a fairly decent rollerblader, so I was drafted onto a team starting up, as 'reps' for some new skate shop in Surfers. Helmets were whatever they handed us. It rode up just enough to let the back of my head bang down. I literally saw stars, went off for rest of game.

Still hasn't broken out of it's box.

Goes great, really turny after stepping off the tank. I reckon with a bit of practise I could do a U turn in 2 x footpath widths.
I love the feel, as chrispy says I can pump it a bit. The deck is very bouncy, lots of flex with my 100kgs on it, and that helps with the pump even though that's kinda cheating and/or bad habit as far as real LDP goes. I ride it everywhere I can, and it's definitely a step up in performance, but requires more than the previous 2 boards.
The S10's feel a bit odd to begin with, quite divey before the spring tensions up but then they firm up & catch you, so lots of initial turn in, have to be wary when at speed not to just crank em over or the board will be doing a U turn and I'll be going straight ahead. You can buy the springs if you want and get different tensions, but I probably won't bother.
Having the wheels so far out means lots of sneaker-bite, or for me I'm barefoot mostly so my heel gets munched by the back wheel. I've just about learned to push right out wide all the time, won't be a problem before long.

I liked your sheep avatar.
It reminded me of the sheep in Shaun The Sheep

Better.
We can lay off the Panadol now.
I still believe that under a certain age it should be mandatory. I.e. a child doesn't have the maturity to make an educated decision so in principle, the idea is to protect them until they are old enough to make the decision. I think the same should apply to bicycles. I.e. if an adult makes the decision to not ride a bicycle without head protection, then hopefully an adult should be mature enough to make that call. Yes, the adult may make the call for their children, but if they are dumb enough to let their kid ride a bike without a helmet knowing their co-ordination may not be there, they deserve to cop the fine.

The different springs make a massive difference, and being a big lad I would recommend the white...yet if you want to.really slash and tail slide the reds would be super nice...the trucks also sit really high,so if you can deal with that, well the width should be no big issue. Oh skate hard and put some shoes on so you really can
