Yesterday The country roads were busy with at least 3
6 to 7 foot Dugites one squashed and 2 attempting to cross busy roads
and today at lunch time this little fellow was sunning him/her self
on some bricks
For the 2 years I have nearly been in this place I have not seen this
type of lizard before and don't know what it is..

i'm pretty sure it's not a sand monitor. look at the tail. sand monitors have laterally compressed tails- the monitor in the photo has a round tail.
sand monitors always have a stripe running back from the eye, where gypsy's doesn't.
also, sand monitors are bigger than that little fella.

it's a varanus tristis, not gouldii

It looks like some sort of goanna at the very least.

Looks more like tristis so Could be. I assumed cause Gypsy was in SW wa that it had to be a gouldii, but a juvenile. I'm no expert.

Feed him boiled eggs and he will grow big and fat real fast,

The Bungs at Wodgina prefered the bar snacks- chicken wings, seafood platters etc,
and would sit on the benches between us while they helped themselves.

They also like frogs, grasshoppers, canned tuna and cat food

They are funny like that. Had one who used to wait until cribb time then wonder out of the bush to get an egg or two we used to take out to the drill rigs. Moved the rigg 20 k's or so, day later the big bugger showed up like a lost dog right on cribb time. We made sure we only gave him eggs, just in case he got crook on wodjila tucka

Gosh I feed the neighbourhood as it is sn

It's probably the cat food, maggie food he is after...
or he just might be passing through as alot of the river wildlife seem
to do as we are 60 meters from the Serpentine river
