So i have blueray files and they dont plug and play on the new LG tv 3d tv (via usb port)Not SO SMART TV after all The compressed audio format which is DTS is incompatible with the tv. So i have tried spliting the audio from the MKV file and changing it to AC3 (dolby) and re adding it but had no luck. So anyways I have reverted to converting to a ps3 file but it seems to be loosing the full blue ray quality and now its only hdmi?

Does anyone know how to split just the audio dts and convert to ac3 and still keep the file blueray quality?

Im just about over this 3d tv? So after paying 1400$ for a tv You have to get a 39 dollar movie and then spend 3*79 dollars on glasses and now i cant burn my movie to my extrenal without compressing it or paying 300 dollars on a compatible player play blue-ray player.3d in my eyes is now overated.sending the hardworking middle-class back to 2d.Ill crack these blueray even if it means streaming direct from the computer tower to the LG 3D dumb TV.
3D is doing my fn head in.
SMART tv= utube videos and log into facebook even opertate it with your phone. Well if your that smart why can your read ****en blueray audio ffs?
Yes doggie and guys major headache!!!!!I be honest i don't think its worth the effort and money.

In Swedish no less... the ding bat.

Buster:
1.- Get MKVtoolnix: mkvtoolnix.download/windows/
2.- launch MKVExtract... this will show you what the MKV has... MKV is like a zip file... a container
3.- Extract the Audio... MAYBE the AC3 audio track is already there!... in which case just delete the DTS track or make the AC3 track default.
4.- If it only has a DTS track follow this guide using AC3 instead of wav: forum.videohelp.com/threads/300964-Help-Split-6-Channels-into-separate-WAVs
5.- MKVtoolnix: MKVMergeGUI... add your new AC3 track.

PS: My SMART TV supports MKV with DTS , but I use an HTPC anyway.

Overated? I think so.

Fad - Most likely (remember how we laffed at the goofy folks with glasses in the 50s..and 80s?)

I personally don't go for most of the films made in 3D.

Dud stories with waaaayyyy too much focus and energy poured into tech, tech, tech, tech - instead of a good story, good acting and a bit of TLC to complete the mix.

Why would I want to gear up to watch rubbish high budget storys?

K.I.S.S.

I also worry about the long term affects anything that is going to effectively strobe my vision. And no way am I leaving a set (or 4 for all the fam) of $100 goggles lying about the house with kids around.

Just to remind again K.I.S.S.

I know this is probably too technical but have you tried a blu-ray disc in a blu-ray player?

Because of this thread I played an hour or so of Gran Turismo in 3D, all the lights off etc.

I'm not convinced. It's good, but it's now "Wow!!!". My brain kinda converts the 2D to 3D anyway. After an hour or so of 3D I felt quite nauseous, which was unexpected. 3D is only 720 and doesn't look as good.

...and that's the only time I've used the 3D glasses since I bought the set one year ago.

I don't think many people have bought a new TV [i]specifically[/] for the 3D. I didn't. It is impossible to buy one these days that doesn't come with 3D. Looks like it adds $100 to the cost of the set anyway. They make money on the glasses.

Also buster: VLC 2.0 has just been released. Looks like Blu-Ray support, although I've no idea if that includes a source of an MKV file. Try it out.

64-bit on Mac only, for now.

Thanks panda i use www.finalmediaplayer.com/ or www.gomlab.com/gomplayer-media-player/ for mkv files although i have vlc player installed aswell The problem is when when i plug my external into my lg tv it dosent not read the file format (which vlc etc do on a normal computer) So Unfortunately because you cant install vlc on the lg tv ( lg/playstation 3 did not purchase the codec toff the disc designers). You are forced to either break down the file and change it to supported formats inwhich the tv can understand or change the whole file!!!
Anyways i have sussed it outFlysurfer has answers !!! ;-)

Found a big problem. If you dont know how to convert mkv files and the the program you are using goes into fault it deams the MKV file undeletable or if the conversion programe is a 32 bit rather than a 64 bit installed it will create a fault the fault read "unable to delete open in windows problem solving. .This fault is sent directly to windows maintenance problem resolve. To delete unconverted files you have to go into windows control panel + delete maintenance records 1 by 1. ****s goes deep. Files are really difficult to remove fly !!! Anyways got it sussed not the sort of thing for beginner computer users.!!! I split and used the supplied ac3 and it was german !!!!
Smart mofo fly you are !!! respect\
