Geeez! What's all this TV stuff?
I grew up listenning to "Captain Miracle" on the radio. (intrepid space traveller who used to roam the galaxy with his brave crew, fighting evil aliens. )

I do remember the mousketeers when TV came out though. I was madly in love with Annette Pinch a fellow,.. (or something like that.)

T.V. came to eastern Australia in 1956. It may have taken a little longer to get to W.A.

I am sure Perth back then would have been just like Brisbane, a large country town.

In 1960 when I was living at Chermside, which was about 2 miles short of the tram terminus, we still had no sewerage on our 32 perch block and used a bomb box dunny out in the back yard with the customary choco vine and nasturtiums growing around it. The choco were really bland when boiled and served as an accompaniement to the corned beef and white sauce with mashed spud, carrots and peas but I loved sucking those nasturtium flowers for their nectar.

I would walk the mile and a half home from school so that I could spend the thrupenny tram fare I had been given on hot chips rolled up in news paper. I am sure the lead from the news print that I ingested has contributed to the sharpness of my memory. Sometimes I would buy cobbers or freckles instead of chips. Sherbets were good too.

On arriving home there would be the usual Monte Carlo biscuits and glass of milk or if I was lucky, a Vanilla slice and Aktavite in my milk. Then it would be straight to the lounge room, switch on the valve radio and tune it in to The Adventures of Smokey Dawson and his Pal Jingles. Google that and see what you come up with.

Dinner followed at around 6:30, an hour of home work then bed preceeded by a dessert spoonful of malt and cod liver oil.

Gawd I'd love to be back there now.

No, none of the above three. Occasionally the staff let me out to play with my toys.

This last photo is of a yacht called "Cicely June" that I purchased a month ago at a bargain price and is my newest project. She is an original version of a Sparkman & Stephens 34 and as it has turned out she is quite an historic yacht.

"Cicely June" is the first example of an S&S 34 to arrive in Australia, which happened in 1969 not long prior to her being raced in the Sydney to Hobart Race that year. The race was won by "Morning Cloud", another S&S 34, owned and mastered by Edward Heath who became a "Sir" as well as becoming the British Prime Minister.

These two yachts were the inspiration that prompted the Swarbrick brothers in Perth to import the moulds for this yacht and between them and others, produce more than 100 examples of this classic design of yacht in this country. No doubt a significant and measureable impact on our economy.

The other yacht pictured is called "Cisco". I bet you didn't pick that one. She is a Van De Stadt 34, the first of the Van De Stadt design office's "CAD-CAM" designs. Just Google it if you are interested in the details.

So in answer to your question "do you kite/wind surf", no, but I enjoyed watching the four guys kite surfing the Yacht basin at Burnett Heads the last couple of days, but as a counter point I ask you have you ever tried land sailing? Every woman I have put in a land yacht has squealled with glee when she got a taste.

"Or do you just cruise forums from the nursing home?", no, I cruise lots of different places. When the Van De Stadt is disposed of the next project will be a Shelby Cobra Replica.

If that is really you in your avatar, we should meet up some time and I will give you free rides in or on my various toys or just send the girl to me. Cheers Cisco
