Don't forget emo's

Unfortunately LOL and all other such crap has been Gen X's doing even though it appeared in Gen Y's time. It was on chat rooms long before it became text speak.

Do you mean people who wear purple?

Noice one Diver - backing the unbackables (your lot) means I have moved into the box seat to pick up $90-$150 in my tipping comp. Course I aint blind and didn't back my lot the (once) mighty Eagles.. Still on top of the Freo riff-raff though!

I thought we were talking about Gen Y. Why do you always have to bring it back to footy?

If you win the $90 - $150, then you owe me a beer for your good fortune in tipping the riff-raff. None of that chardonnay stuff you drink in WCE land.

They are definitely Gen X.

I came to this question while watching Chanel V. I am still waiting for a new, major music genre, like heavy metal, punk, techno, grunge or hip-hop etc. to come out of Gen Y. Anything.

I find it kinda weird that I can't think of anything apart from LOL.

I like watching Talkin 'Bout yoru Generation (the game show) but the GenY contestants always really annoy me. The lack of general knowledge is appalling.

GenX get a lot of Q's correct about the Boomer's stuff from the 50's thru to the 80's but GenY always have no idea about anything that is over 5-10 years old.
Perhaps it is because the poor GenY captain fella (whoever he is) always gets lumbered with a piece of blonde fluff that is famous for being a pretty airhead and not much else.

This is Gen X too, fluoro was big in the 80s and has been revived for unthinkable reasons.

Oh man. I went to Russia and I emailed back a photo of me holding a hammer and a sickle, real ones in the appropriate position. It was a kinda cool photo.

... actually

There you go, that's me

A Gen Y friend asked me what it meant, and even my own Gen Y sister didn't get it. WTF? Some of them even asked me if Russia was still communist.

You could kind of credit the new version of R&B to gen Y, especially since they have taken a pre-existing music genre name and applied it to music that is only vaguely related. Bloody confusing but that is what you can expect when they were brought up by baby boomers.

Ah, way to go, insulting the generation either side of me in one boring post!

So true..

Then again maybe their gen knowledge is suss cause, unlike us old farts ,they are out socialising and ploughing ripe fields instead of tooning into docos to toon out from the misses (I mean other people honey - in case you read this).

Nah.. they are just plain insular, self absorbed and fick as planks!!

Pretty sure I was nudging 2 out of 3 catagories in my teens though - just not over-achieving at em like these pains in the freckle!!!

The above vid threw up an ad for White Papers on Gen Y, which led to here:
mccrindle.com.au/insights/publications/

...which led to "The Gen Y Lexicon" on page 8 here of this:
www.mccrindle.com.au/wp_pdf/Wordup_Lexicon.pdf

... which contained:

chat
adj. Disgusting, wrong, not very nice. "That sandwich looks chat."

and
jigga
1. n. A gigolo; someone who's got a way with the ladies. "Yo, whussup jigga."

I am really out of touch

(I'm half trollin' with this thread by the way, not dissin' ya (that's X too))

WHO'S TO BLAME??

Poor Gen Y didn't have a chance! Thanks to their parents guidance (Baby B's) and their role models (Gen x)!

They've been given stupid name to start with! I saw a girl the other day working at the checkout - her name was Samantha..... spelt Cymantha!! WTF! (even the spell check is saying it's spelt wrong).

So just remember - everything you pick on Gen Y for - is ultimately your fault!

This is why gen Y is the way they are -

A learner driver has been caught texting a friend and not wearing a seat belt as her mother sat in the passenger seat sipping coffee.

The 16-year-old girl was pulled over in Ryrie Street, Geelong about 2pm on Thursday afternoon.

Police say they spotted her "furiously texting on her mobile phone while trying to drive".

Her mother, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was reportedly drinking coffee and looking out the window.

When police asked her what level of supervision she was providing her daughter, she allegedly replied, "How can I do anything? I have a terrible headache."

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Somebody please shoot the mother!!
