G'day everyone,

Just throwing this out there and hoping someone will be able to assist.
Currently I use Pinnacle Studio to edit any Video Camera footage I have. However I busted the Video Camera and have been using my digital(still) camera, but it's video output format is AVI, and Pinnacle does not like this file type, I've used a converter (ImTOO) to change it to say MPEG but I lose too much quality. Does anyone know of an app that will let me edit AVI files and then burn them to DVD/load onto YouTube etc?...

Thanks for your time!

If you want to spend money Adobe Premier
If you want a freebie Virtual dub.

You can then use WinAVI or convert x to dvd to convert AVI to DVD format.

Maybe download a program called "div-x beta"
I know it gives you the codec for avi files to work in media players such as windows media player so it should work for editing programs.
I will try to find the link for ya tonight.

I use "avidmux" (open source and it's free) but that's on a linux distro not sure if there's a windows version.

Not just mistakes you want to edit, my camera only takes 20sec clips, it's nice to be able to join these together.

Wicked, thanks for all the pointers, will check out all of these and see how they go....

On a side note this is some footage that I want to edit just in it's raw state no sound track or anything - this is also the result of crappy snow and no wind on the mountain!

Thanks again fellas, great help!

Windows movie make will work with avi I think. You should have it already on your machine.

It's free but very clunky. Make sure you back up your projects regulary and version them so you can always go back if a project stuffs up.

Other than that I have a version of Pinnacle Studio 9.0 I can put up for you to ftp to.
