Picking up from a recently removed thread, have you been anywhere particularly interesting that you'd like to share?
I'm at a diamond mine just 200km South of the Arctic Circle in Canada at the moment. I must say it's one of the more interesting places I've been in my life, something I'll always remember.
Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo, the Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum and the privately owned Auto Museum at York W.A.

I just returned on Monday from a week in Angola. Stunningly beautiful.

Earlier this year I visited some islands in the Gulf of Thailand. One of the places we stayed on Koh Phangan was quite out of the way, needed a 4wd to get to the main resort entrance but a short walk across a rocky outcrop and along the beach was a little village called Thong Nai Pan. There is a place there called Jip Shop, was a shop but is now more of a restaurant, mostly made out of bamboo, really casual place, people playing jenga with a pet rabbit on the table, that kind of stuff. I had one of the best meals of my life there, better than the food at any of the 5 star resorts we stayed at and on par with any fine dining or degustation I've had anywhere in the world. Totally amazed me how good it was, at this shop in the middle of nowhere; and for 2 mains, 2 deserts and a few drinks, was about $30. I'd love to go back there, if only there wasn't so much of the world left to see.
Some island in the middle of absolutely nowhere.
