now I need a head scratching smiley
so your 7 x 57 outwallops a 200 grain boat tail wandering along at a tad over 3000fps (military issue ammo)......from a M44 carbine.

I use this baby for everything from rapidfire short range mad minute matches, targets out to 600 yards and the occaisional fox- with the original military sights and no fancy recoil pads or bipods, just using whats left of my shoulder
(probably explains why my shoulder is getting rebuilt next week)

Granted, my reloads are a bit more civilised, taipan 150 grain at 2800fps for targets and a bit of hunting, and 180 grain cast lead with traiboss powder for no-recoil loads for kids (and temporarily- me)
Also- flat base projies are better in military spec. barrels, twice the barrel life- and almost always more accurate than boaties- unless you are going over 700 to 800 yards.

my 300WM with 190's is even better but in ex mil a 7x57 is the most useful of all.

Best BC.

Dambusters! Yes! Classic British stiff upper lip! Great music and restrained, British (wooden) acting.

The real Guy Gibson who led that raid was 24 at the time! 24! A mere boy!

^^^^ The Hill is an awesome, awesome film. The script, acting, and direction are absolutely sensational. A fabulous drama.

You're missing one of the most important pieces.

Cross of Iron, it's a Sam Peckinpah classic that introduced a few new things to action scenes that are all "de rigeur" now.

Also interesting in that it's not the allies.

The answer to the question "What's the Best (insert sort here) Movie Ever" is inevitable Highlander. I see no difference here.

Apocalypse Now is still the bench mark with great acting and story. Catch 22 for being totally on the mark for those who have not seen it the story goes that to get out of the military you have to be crazy. And here is the catch, to fly over enemy territory in a bomber in broad daylight, you have to be crazy. And don't forget MASH the movie.

Agreed! One of the best quirky roles in a war movie.

Does "Silent Movie" count..???

Ah prairie sheet, you've got them all - I thought I might get "Iron Cross" in, but Cisco beat me.

How about "The Bridge at Remagen"...??

Crappy film, but I have been to that bridge.

Or "Fireball Forward"........

mmm now I think about it I am not sure of the best,

but the worst must surely be :

Any GoPro hero filming themselves kiting in the Pond at Safety Bay and posting it on Seabreeze.

It must classify as a war film as it is a real battleground over there.
