Pretty bizarre that Muslims are protesting violently in Sydney over some video posted on the internet - just makes em look bad. Some pretty disturbing images:

The bible of google taught me about the Quran ;

"...whosoever killeth a human being... it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind..."

but also

"And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution [of Muslims] is worse than slaughter [of non-believers]... but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah."

Again I'm confused!

There aren't enough face palms for their reaction.

It's kind of upsetting that none of the Muslim leaders have come out to put a lid on these plebeians. The last time I remember something like this happening was during the screening of the Last Temptation or Christ.

On another note.... 'plebeians' wasn't the word I was looking for. I was thinking of a word more insulting. It's a derogatory word that would describe a group of people from an ancient culture who can't understand that the world has moved on. I still can't think of it... It's not morons, but something more descriptive.

But while I'm on this tangent has anyone tried out this: www.visualthesaurus.com/app/view

it rocks!

thing that pisses people off about this crap is that there is no point rioting in your own backyard as it does NOT help your cause!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
most law abiding citizens see this as "if you dont like whats happening in your own country or what is portarying your own beliefs either do it peacefully or go back to your country and do something about it there"
there was a sensible interview of an obvious religious muslim who stated that "we came here to have a peaceful demonstration of something we disagree with and a whole bunch of radicals spoilt the whole thing". Nothing wrong with that as Australia is still a democracy last time I looked and fair go but like the Cronulla riots there is a huge radical element that will continue to keep them offisde!!!!!!!!!!!
punching cops and going berserk deserves what you get, rant over.

Some countries, including Ireland and Norway, banned its showing, with a few of these bans lasting decades. The filmmakers used such notoriety to benefit their marketing campaign, with posters stating "So funny it was banned in Norway!".

I don't recall the Italian and Greek migrants of the 40's - 50's, or the Vietnamese refugees of the 70's - 80's ever rioting over something that happened back in their homeland. Nor the Indian, Singaporean, Malaysian etc overseas students here in their thousands.

Interesting.

Christians got upset about the Life of Brian and to a lesser extent the Da Vinci Code etc etc. But I don't recall them putting a verifiable openly stated price upon the head of the author - unlike when Salman Rushdie dared do a caricature of the prophet and thousands called for him to be put to death - even some of those in our 'tolerant' Western nation..

Interesting.

Oops, was I just racist yet again.....

I don't recall anything as violent like this over a random video either Mark.

I'd like to see the govt play hardball on this issue and identify and ship anyone seen in this protest causing trouble shipped off to Naru or some other backwater for further processing.

This protest, is about something that has nothing to do with us, it is totally unacceptable and un Australian.

Can someone post a link to this dodgy vid that they found so offensive.

They are a pack of suckers as are the clowns who react in the predictable fashion Buster.

Unconscious raghead suckers and unconscious redneck suckers who cannot see through the manipulation, probably don't even want to.

Divide and conquer hey, only they don't need a calculator for the division, all they need is a brainwashed pack of suckers and compliant media and hey presto!

"Protester Abdullah Sary, who said he wanted a peaceful protest, told AAP that although he had not seen the film, he was offended because it ridiculed the Prophet Mohammed."

Pretty smart bunch going by the quote above...haven't even seen the bloody film..the ****.

What sort of muppet gives a kid a sign suggesting the beheading of another human being...I mean honestly, the mentality of some people is utterly confusing to me.

The recently performed localy social study shown that if you send a wrong guy to the Afghan village asking politely why they do killing us and if we could do something to stop doing this, will achieve nothing, be lucky to escape with his life at least

The sad thing about this is that there are thousands and thousands of Moslems / people of middle eastern descent in Australia who are NOT out protesting and will inevitably face more racism because of it.

And while many of us deny it I'm sure that if a moslem made a movie portraying Jesus as a paedophile I suspect there would be a bit of a reaction. The life of Brian is not in the same league as this film.

Interesting as well that the US doesn't seem to be particularly interested in finding or prosecuting the makers of the film - given that it is a clear incitement to violence - compared with their reaction to Julian Assange.

As a neutral observer I could only say that there are only three types of responses to ANY protesters demonstrations possible at all:

a) listen what there are trying to say, and think
b) ignore completely
c) fight back with force

thank you for thinking..I love peace

Has anyone watched that trailer? It's utter rubbish. It's so trashy its hard to see how it could inspire any sort of response other than "what a crap movie". As a political or anti-Islamic polemic it's a total wash. It really is SO pathetically trashy.

I would have thought it was ineffectual but no. An articulate insult or a moronic insult will get the same response from some.

The really appalling thing about the Sydney demo is that it is so exquisitely counterproductive one might reasonably think it was the work of anti-Islamic provocateurs.

Good thing is that ASIO and fed pol now have new people to add to their databases. Most of the ringleaders would be stupid to think that once they have outted themselves for being associated with extreme views they would be looked at and enquiries made. Asio would be wrapped for the new faces for their pin up board.
