My mum and dad (in their 80's) loved it. Said it was Aussie as so I reckon these days quite a lot of people wont get it, sigh

Yup, top movie. It gets a bit silly early on but persist past that and it's a brilliant, simple aussie movie.

I wish Aussies would learn to integrate instead of making aussie movies about aussies.

PS this scared the **** out of me as a kid:

Actually I thought the movie had a good theme about Aussie's integrating with other Nationalities. The Italian bloke is hilarious!
I like the attention to detail in the movie-like the correct number plates on the cars, the cans of swan

With whom must I integrate in my home country? When others come to Oz it's up to them to integrate.

If I emigrate to some other country then it'll be up to me to integrate.

I bumped into a chick this week with a Google Maps Print in her hand... I said, "where you going?". She said, "Dampier, driving from Ocean Grove, it's gunna take about 23 days. My sister is coming from Toronto and she want to go there, but wants to drive".... All because of this movie.... She wants to see the Red Dog Statue....

Not quite, Caterpillar 777C trucks didn't hit the ground until the 90's, same for single boom Cat front end loader But then again that's all that we had to lend them at the time.
But I liked the movie, took a bit of a rattle to get cranked on, but in the end wasn't half too bad
Bet the price of red cloud pups goes through the roof shortly

they are allowing people and their dogs in to see the movie" Last seen she

Sorry, not quite. The bottom plate shown in this picture is correct for the period => ; this plate even looks the part for a dusty, rusty coastal region!

There are a lot of anachronisms, eg.:

-Pedigree Dog Food didn't exist, PAL did =>
- I don't remember any Aussie with the types of tattoos the actors in this film had; back then, anchors, naked women and snakes were all the rage
- As Rachael Taylor is not the publican's wife, the miners should be giving her a hard time, not being perfect gentlemen!
- Dampier sign is modern
- Light globes in the pub bar's overhead lights should be clear, not 'soft white'. Anyway you shouldn't have been able to see the light globes for the smoking that would have absolutely clouded the room! - this is perhaps the most glaring anachronism of all.
- Low-profile radial tyres on the '1971' cars,
- 'Stumbling In' (1979) played for 1971,
- Even a WB (1980-84) Holden Van makes an appearance in '71!

Still despite all this, I loved the story, the red dog in the movie, Rachael Taylor and the cameo by Bill Hunter, and have seen the movie twice!
