Latest aussie moovy......about mans best friend and his community,
If you were there in the 60s'70's or before or even the 80's or ever
wanted to go there, cop a load of this, young harry! This will be the greatest
Australian production EVER!!
My mum and dad (in their 80's) loved it. Said it was Aussie as so I reckon these days quite a lot of people wont get it, sigh
Yup, top movie. It gets a bit silly early on but persist past that and it's a brilliant, simple aussie movie.
I wish Aussies would learn to integrate instead of making aussie movies about aussies.
PS this scared the **** out of me as a kid:
Actually I thought the movie had a good theme about Aussie's integrating with other Nationalities. The Italian bloke is hilarious!
I like the attention to detail in the movie-like the correct number plates on the cars, the cans of swan
I bumped into a chick this week with a Google Maps Print in her hand... I said, "where you going?". She said, "Dampier, driving from Ocean Grove, it's gunna take about 23 days. My sister is coming from Toronto and she want to go there, but wants to drive".... All because of this movie.... She wants to see the Red Dog Statue....
just driving north from Gawler.....and a red Kelpie darts across the road in front
of me....head down, tail between his legs....tracking. Soi winds down the
window and said...." Gidday RED DOG" head came up tail wagged and there
was a smile on his face......made his day.. RED DOG LIVES....WOW WOLF WOLF
Single women coming to Dampier
Send them to the Mermaid and look for the guy in the high vis shirt
That statues the biggest attraction in town
Was going to go tonight, second movie in four years!, plans got scotched. Going down to visit the ex on the weekend in Nowra, will take her out!
Something wrong with a bloke if he does not like dogs
Look..............UMMMMMMM I started this rumour today,..for fun
I just happened to see a woman hop out of a station wagon and get her
Wippet [small sized greyhound] from the tailgate. So i sez to her ...."like , you
just been to see Red Dog I suppose.? Oh no said she! Oh said I , I believe that
they are allowing people and their dogs in to see the movie" Last seen she
was heading to the movie theater, dog on a lead....

Sorry, not quite. The bottom plate shown in this picture is correct for the period => ; this plate even looks the part for a dusty, rusty coastal region!
There are a lot of anachronisms, eg.:
-Pedigree Dog Food didn't exist, PAL did =>
- I don't remember any Aussie with the types of tattoos the actors in this film had; back then, anchors, naked women and snakes were all the rage
- As Rachael Taylor is not the publican's wife, the miners should be giving her a hard time, not being perfect gentlemen!
- Dampier sign is modern
- Light globes in the pub bar's overhead lights should be clear, not 'soft white'. Anyway you shouldn't have been able to see the light globes for the smoking that would have absolutely clouded the room! - this is perhaps the most glaring anachronism of all.
- Low-profile radial tyres on the '1971' cars,
- 'Stumbling In' (1979) played for 1971,
- Even a WB (1980-84) Holden Van makes an appearance in '71!
Still despite all this, I loved the story, the red dog in the movie, Rachael Taylor and the cameo by Bill Hunter, and have seen the movie twice!
