Why don't you try the AWB web site? Perhaps John Howard's page links to it too, George Dubya's is a good bet... some others might be the ANZ Bank and Halliburton etc... Suffice to say, there are lots of (fiscally) interested parties out there that might be able to spread the seasons' cheer for you.

If you really want to get up close and personal with the action, there are lots of "jobs" going over in Iraq that will offer you more than a tidy sum made up of US/UK/AU tax dollars. The bullets and shrapnel are free, and when the locals really want to make a point, they'll hack off your head with a blunt knife and send the video home for your folks to watch.

Grow up idiot! Vote responsibly! And go fly a kite!

I Guess its just step one in cleaning up the disasters that people like Saddam Insane have caused.

Oh and yes.... Lets give Iran the nuclear capability its leaders are seeking. Then they can monopolise the countries supplying the majority of oil worldwide, cause havoc with the western economies and destroy all those horrible multinational companies. It will be fun surviving by growing our own food and riding donkeys.

Make sure you vote the right way ????

what disaster as he caused ??? how many more people have been killed during the embargo after the first war in koweit and lately = one millions iraky people. so 3000 "americans" are worth 1000000 irakies for our so called humane nations.

everybody was happy to have sadam before to get into war with iran. who do you think provided the amunitions ?

how is playing with those countries politics most of the time .... how come africa his so rich but only big companies make money and the people are still poor ? who do you think gives money to the corrupt polititicens there ....

this might not be because of an embargo by iran but more likely because we will run out of petrol soon ... if you don-t want these nations to become even more rich, why don-t we all save petrol and ride bikes to work ????

Actually marc, sadams "little" wars with Iran cost 1 million soldiers -... not sure of the amount killed in the invasion against Kuwait and then the UN led by the US in the proceeding gulf war -but a fair few there too got spanked as well. Also remind you that he was the aggressor on both counts. So yeah he was pretty much a disaster.

As far as I know there will be no pictures or video files on the hanging. I understand this is to signal that the Saddam era with public hangings, shootings, etc. has finished and the new regime is far more civilized... A good thing I'd say.

So once again the Yanks are the bad guys.

God help us if they one day pull up stumps and return to their own fortified country!

Who then would you put your trust in...

God....?

Peace...?

The "why can't we all just get a long days" if they ever existed are gone. Oil, Buisiness interests etc, are a small price to pay for a chance at a true self governing democracy!

Seems the only real obsticle to self rule in Iraq are the countries and hippies on the side lines taking pot shots at the yanks!

Better to try and fail than do nothing and bitch!

trail and error to the expens of whom ???? the irakies people ??? this war was won 3 years ago dixit the americans but since what happened ?
civil war, petrol higher, iran and other countries seeing that the US is not that powerfull anymore (since somalia anyway). by doing that, they just opened the big pandora box for all the bad guys on the planet.
wmd did not exist, all the big american co are making big dollars selling their wmd and sending poor american to the butcher.
i just remind you that the US always played dangerous games with all the dictators they put in place in this world (marcos, pinochet, ...)
the talibans were made to fight the russians in afganistan and so on.
i guess you can say better try than do nothing but the result is people getting killet in irak everyday but not in australia.
the best think would be to act before by not promoting these guys just because of our little selfish interests.

Happy New Year everybody
Do not forget, we are KITESURFERS not politicians, and the war in Iraq do not influence the Gods of Winds, so stop this stupid thread and go back to kitesurfing issues.
Hey, what’s better, a Bow kites or a C kites? or Peter Lynn foils?[:o)
Bridled kites or five lines kites? [:o)
We have so many issues to resolve, so forget politics.
Let the tyrants sleep (die in peace)

As bad as executions are in general, there are reasons why the execution of Saddam was an especially bad idea.

First, he was tried by a kangaroo court. What went on in Bagdad had no resemblance to the Nuremburg trials. It was about as legitimate as the show trial of Noriega, another yank ex-ally, in 1992, after the U.S. government expended many hundreds of millions, and killed several thousand Panamanians, in order to kidnap him. It puts American justice (because the Iraqi court was just a puppet of the Bushies) on a level with that of the Soviets, who specialized in show trials. Second, he died with lots of information. This is the real reason, I suspect, why Saddam had to die. Who knows how much he could have revealed about the part the U.S. played in his war with Iran (besides supplying him with loads of intelligence,
weapons, and encouragement)? Who knows what he might have said of his
conversations with his ex-friend Donald Rumsfeld, who visited with him 15 months after he was known to have used gas on Iraqi Kurds—as well as Iranian troops? Whoknows how many murderers, thieves, torturers, betrayers, and other assorted rats he would have fingered if given half a chance? You can bet they’re all glad he, and his
closest associates, have been killed. Third, his death will apotheosize him to many. I’ve got to say that Saddam died like a
man. He didn’t cry or snivel or beg for mercy; he died with dignity. He was a sociopath, like most people involved in statecraft, but at the end, he was also a stand-up guy, unlike most involved in statecraft. The fact he went to his death undaunted, even
though he was apparently surrounded by a gang of undisciplined jackals who were almost having a party, makes him seem even more of a martyr. Not only can’t Bush and his minions run a war right, even though it’s killed hundreds of thousands, they can’t
even execute one man right. Again, don’t get me wrong: Saddam needed killing. But that should have occurred while he was in power, when he could still do damage, not when he was a helpless prisoner. Idiotically, however, the U.S. has a law against killing foreign politicians while they’re still in power. Alternatively, it would have been nice to have seen him strung up from a lamp post, in a fit of rage, by his own subjects, like Mussolini. But, done the way it was, he’s likely to become the icon of a cult. He could well
become a hero for Iraqis who don’t like Islamists any more than they like the American invaders, or the collaborators now running the Iraqi government. The morons have created a martyr. You say this can’t be possible? Stalin, possibly the worst criminal of the 20th century, is still treated with reverence in Russia, if only because he fought the Nazis. Saddam will become a hero all over the Arab world for being the man who stood up against the Crusaders. Like Stalin, his faults will be minimized. They’ll remember just two things: He stood up against the invaders, and he died bravely.
So, while a lot of people in both Washington and Baghdad might think they’re burying testimony to their crimes with Saddam, they’ve also poured more gasoline on the fires in Iraq. Good going, Baby Bush.
