Depends on the water they come out of Boof, but when they're good I rate them in my top five. Similar texture and grain to Coral Trout but perhaps even more mild flavour. They're great to cook with as they take on the flavour of anything you choose to season them with.
Out of clean cold flowing water like the Warren River over here they are top notch, can get a bit muddy out of some dams if they have a muddy base. They feed mainly on Marron so spend a lot of time hunting on the bottom.

There's not too much that beats fresh reddie fillets on the barbie with salt, pepper and a squirt of beer. The last lot I got ^^^ I turned into Nummus and it came up pretty bloody good too.

I wasn't going to post until I read your childish comments Fly, so here's a few of my captures. All released in good nick, or caught sustainably and dispatched of humanely. I didn't have to buy fish that had been caught many days before, in big nets with unwanted, wasted bycatch. How do you usually find forcing your beliefs down peoples throats in such a manner helps your cause?

60gm Maria metal flickers Matt. They even pulled a little bit of string
I've just received some big rattling vibes from the US that I reckon will kill the pig on these things.
As soon as this run of swell backs off I'll get down there for another crack at them.
