How do you see spirituality?

I have just seen it again in a bunch of kids mucking around on a wave. So totally at one with what they were doing at that moment.

What stops us being like that as we grow older?

Japie,

I AM still like that! I keep getting told to "grow up". Just can't bring myself to do it. Whether it's wrestling with my kids, mucking around in the shallows with them, rolling down hills...

...basically anything that my kids do, I do with them. Great way to keep young & have a great relationship with your kids at the same time.

Time. Our minds are trapped in time and any attempt to free them from time is but a another movement in time itself.

Bummer dude.

Just watch for a while.

Growing old is compulsary......

Growing up is a choice...............

Birth, life and death are compulsory. Everything else is optional including taxes.

Ok, I give up - how do you opt out of taxes (assuming the life phase)

Food isn't optional! Therefore, by extension, neither is beer. Which means taxes are near obligatory as well.

You guys have just not understood what I said.

Birth, life and death are compulsory; If you are born you must live for an amount of time, no matter how long or short that time is. What ends a life is death.

Therefore birth, life and death are inescapeable.

As humans we are born with, or eventually realise, we are blessed with choice, at least to a greater degree than all other creatures.

Therefore during life which is started by birth and ended by death, each of us has the ability to exercise choice.

I did not say that there were not consequences attached to the choices we make, only that we have options.

Some people never pay any taxes and manage to stay free and live fulfilling lives.

How they do it I do not know. Some might achieve this by accepting compromise in their lifestyle and others may achieve by accepting no compromise and that may be the KEY.

Others do it criminally and that is the option they have chosen.

I do know that in this country, when you get old enough and poor enough, the tax department recognises the point of diminished return and leaves you alone.

Not an exciting prospect but if one reaches that point and is still having FUN, he/she is a big winner.

Somebody said to me, "The richest man in town is the one whose needs are least."

I am by no means there but reckon I have made some inroads.

For me spirituality is the acceptance that as an individual I am an integral part of this whole existence.

We are all made of the same stuff, as is everything. All of which relies on everything else, planet, ecology, the lot.

I like to think that our evolution will lead to a greater intelligence, one that completely surpasses our current understandings.

I also think that if we had not evolved through stages of cohesion that is rare today we would never have made it this far. In fact if time were reversed one could be forgiven for thinking that we were destined for annihalation.

You know, that could be the premise for a great movie...........probably set it on an alien planet with an intelligent but primitive humanoid species (just upsized like a Hungry Jacks meal) who are in touch with their inner Qi. Make 'em blue skinned and add a big battle with the insensitive resource hungry human invaders in there as well, and voila.

Whilst that is quite sad I can understand the sentiment! How ****ed is a society that pays people to have kids?

Gypsy, you need to have a think about this one in relation to refugees. It is obvious that it is the number that matters, not the quality!

I have no love of christianity in any denomination cos it has bypassed our true spirituality (I think), but this is one of many examples of how one could actually express it.

The movie is pretty good too!
