Seems like his story was edited to make it tougher and more remarkable than reality.

That page is in Korean. Fortunately I just noticed that Chrome has a built in translation function. The story is much clearer now:

"And his dream Is over-greedy"

"26 at 2 pm geonyangdae Hospital. The boy seems no one piano and sing songs at charity concert with the hospital has been practicing. Themselves 'bone age and older, mid-40s I' pretty grown-up boy of the best bonggun (18, II notice two years) is Started singing for three years. If you learn Korean it makes much more sense.

The Korean Got Talent wanted their own version of Susan Boyle. They looked around South Korea and didn't find any women who looked like Susan. The producers asked the North Korean government for help but the response was there are no fatties in North Korea besides the Dear Leader. He would appear but wanted a guarantee he would win.

So they found this fat kid and gave him some singing lessons.

The rest is history.
