OK so i love my movies but get bugger all chance to induldge most of the time.

Finally eaxtracted the digit and got down to Vid emporium yesterdee and as well as kid's placations took out:

The Road
Animal kingdom
and..

Scott Pilgrim vs The world.

Kn hell SP vs World was the funniest flick I have seen in AGES! Expected average and was treated.

Sure pop culture and indi music ref's everywhere - right up my alley like FACT 50 t-shirt (getting one online today - have had disc since 88). Ha ha - even picked Frank Black's Los Angeles toon behind 'Ramona song' (calling Poor Rellie).

Right out there film and heaps of funny sight gags and one liners tho. Gamers would love it even more I reckon.

So what's your pick for the hols viewing

NOT The Tourist - slow and boring... Had a Gold Class pass about to expire on the 31/12 and it was something the wife was happy to see...

Have since seen about 3 reviews and nothing better than 2/5... which is about right.

We watched Tron Legacy the other day at the cinemas.

Cost us about $45 for two tickets.

The 3D effect was quite good and it was in parts exciting. However the plot was lacking and got in the way. They could have taken about half an hour out of the middle when they were in the old bloke's house talking about stuff that did not seem to matter that much.

I don't mind movies with a story and dialogue. However when an action SFX movie tries to explain anything and everything, it doesn't work. All you need to know is there are good guys and there are bad guys.

A bit of a waste of money and time. Been a long time since we've watch a movie at the cinemas and it will probably be a long time before we see another one.

I loved Animal Kingdom - easily my favorite for 2010.

Just watched Inception, which I liked, but wasn't in the right frame of mind for. I'll need to sit down and watch again and concentrate a bit more.

I saw a heap of movies on the plane - all crap. There was this incredibly stupid one about some guy who sailed yachts who could see dead people after his brother died - spare me.

They all would have been better if Tom Hanks was in them, which is my usual line if I don't like a movie.

Saw Inception last week... I liked it but you're right, you do need to concentrate. It's easy to lose the plot when there are four different levels happening simultaneously but at different speeds.

Hey folks was more talkin about the DVD spectrum - but good to hear about cinema happenings.

Larson's bi-friendly tattoo chick sounds worth a gander. Two ticks right there for a start.

Too tired tonight for Animal kingdom. Hope it's as good as The Boys was years ago.

Caught great Anton Corbjin doco (after nodding off on couch) tonight. Tops.

Inception - tell him he's dreaming!!!

It's actually a great movie, but yeah requires a bit of concentration.

Badoom Tish!

Hey GPA - wifey and I scored an EVENT Gold Pass for recent birfdees. What doe that include?

I'm assuming it would be unwise to see a 'serious' film requiring concentration,as some nong (like me) will probably be requesting complimentary peanuts/G&T's/anything free every 5 secs.

Oh - saw Gullivers travells with squids the other day. Not a big Jack Black (Gulliver pun intended) fan but was pretty good. A real boys film. Arse crack jokes etc. Tightarse Tuesday fare for adults without kids.

^^^
The tickets themselves are somthing like $37.50 each... so if you have a $100 gift voucher you'll have about $15 bucks left - which won't quite get you 2x GT's!!

The foods actually very good - although the serves are on the small side for the price.

Not sure where you are going - but where we went there was a lounge and bar - so worth getting there 30min beforehand to have a drink and order your food (and extra drinks . The menus are on their web pages.

And BTW, the wait staff are very unobtrusive - so I reckon you could watch a serious film without being worried about disruption.

i think larson's 2nd installment is just hitting the cinemas or has hit recently. am kee nto catch it once on dvd.

another i saw couple of weeks back was "500 days of summer". i'm not a romcom fan but this one was worth the watch. reminded me of my younger years.
has a darkish overtone and a great soundtrack.

Just didnt get why Animal Kingdom got all the accolades, as far as I , and wife were concerned it was total crap!, but hey we all have different tastes.
If I wanted to watch dickhead Australian bogans at work (or life) might just head down to the pub ,or on the streets driving around with --- show ya t.ts for the boys stickers on their commadores. Great representation of australians NOT.
I liked Splice though

OK so Animal Kingdom was pretty darn good.

Not quite as good as The Boys but better look/budget and I liked the ending (did see it coming a tad tho). Very similar ground in both films.

Ben Mendohlson is a great actor (totally underated and makes Boofhead Russel look like.. well a boofhead), but he didn't convince me for the 1st half of the film like David Wenham did.

Jackie Weaver was a scary little Smurf.. kissy kissy .

Noice scoring and deluxe standards accross the board etc shows just how good Oz films can be.

8/10 - def worth seeing (doubly so if you haven't seen The Boys)

EDIT: Wifey feels the same way Cassa. She has a high dropkick ratio in clientele and doesn't feel the need to revisit work at home.

i watched inception last night.

not my cup of tea, the plot didn't require much thought at all, i got bored and it was predictable. being spoon fed details to try and clarify a plot is too american for me.

Mmmm - Penelope.. The good kinda Cruze - latin delight.

Nort wrong doggie - so many classic one-liners

This is the busiest time of year, this is a crazy time, it just goes bonkers. It's as silly as a bum full of smarties.

Funny part is parents look at me and say 'that's not much of a job, is it?'. And I say 'well you had kids'. 'You spent the first two years handling their ****, and you weren't getting paid for that'. They **** green, the only things that should be green are pears, apples and Martians.

[advice on getting married] Cut out the middle man; find someone you hate and buy them a house.

Er.. forgot to rate Scott Pilgram - 8.5/10 and instant (cult) classic status garaunteed

I too enjoyed Animal kingdom, but not as much as i enjoyed past Aussie movies like Beneath the Clouds, September, The homesong stories, The Square or Samson and Delilah.
I'm a fan of Aussie cinema - when Aussies get cinema right they really get it right.

Thought beneath hill 60 was a pearler too.

Relly enjoyed the new Cohen brothers movie - True Grit

I love you Phillip morris is another great movie if you can get over the gay theme.

Also saw Monsters which was different but fun.
But for a great laugh check out District 9

Others i really really enjoyed

Shutter Island
City Island
Exit Through the gift shop
Sex n Drugs n Rock n Roll
Social Network
