Anyone see Denyer, the Ch 7 midget racer I/V Tony Hawk last night?
Can't believe he is older than me and still skating like that!
Sure it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges but for my money TH is the most graceful boarder of all. And I mean on any kind of board, surf, skate, snow & kite. Powerful, fast, smooooth and even in the 900 he doesn't look untidy or rushed (almost).
Slater - would probably be second, but on a wave even Slater doesn't always get to choose exactly where he is going whereas a skater generally does. Competition surfing is generally tres boring too as it is all about maximum moves in minimum time (same reason i don't enjoy watching kite comps too). Hawk doing super smoove huge steezed stuff i could watch all day long.
If only dingle dangle kiting could be so good to look at instead of overly frenetic and 'busy'.
Timeless stoil from an original and he is still setting the standard. Amazing.
Can't be bothered watching it on dialup.
Can somebody just tell me one thing which I am curious about.... what is the thing that looks like a decapitated Kermit the Frog hovering above him?
(Oh and Elmo, are you going to the funeral )
The Kermit is another skater flying over the top of Hawk grinding accross the rail.
How is the massive dust storm that rips right through the ramp? 5 mins later they are going huge and landing on the now dusty as hell surface. That's a bit like throwing huge moves and landing on ice.
The big moves sure are great but the stoil Hawk shows is the best. Amazing for such a tall gangly lookin mofo.
Such a pity Hosoi flaked out on speed back in the day. Hawk n Hosoi sure did push each other to new extremes.
