The original movie will be hard to beat because it was a totally unique concept and very well made, even though it copped quite a bagging from the critics. But what would they know?
It took me years to finally find out what the real story was.
I think the original is an all time classic, in some part due to Arnie Governator in it.
But I will certainly go and see the re-make when it hits town. 
Total Recall is a great movie that stands up well. This is due to a number of factors, mainly the strength of the story, based on a story by Philip K Dick.
Dick wrote a ton of stories which are really interesting. Some of them have dated as they were based on themes around total annihilation from world war 3 or the technology has moved far beyond what he imagined.
Perhaps it would be better for Hollywood or Bollywood to look at a few of the other stories he wrote and turn them into movies rather than redoing a movie that still is pretty good. However it will be interesting to compare the movie of 1990 to the 2012 version.

Sharon Stone wasnt bad, but Kate and Jess are much Hotter.... in my opinion...
It looks like they have put alot of work into it so it should be a good remake...
Atleast its a remake and not a sequel as they tend to go bad...
Also for those with HiDef gear, the remastered version of the original is being released on the same day.
The remastered version of Gladiator was excellent, and looked like it was shot recently.

Looks good, some remakes can be better than the original eg Omega Man-
I am Legend, they also did a great job on the Thing which wasn't really a remake but what shows what happen to the Norwegians who found the alien in the first place.
Should we calling them remakes or just "covers" like the music industry?
