I really hate xmas.

You have to work harder to waste more money on people you dont like.
You have to agree with the wifey on everything!!
You have to join ques in shop's behind fat smelly people, not to mention parking.
Your forced to wake up early to receive presents you paid for.

Since I was 17 every xmas has been a social wank and wallet drainer.
The social part kills me as much as the $$$$ part of it.
I hate to say it but I really do hate it. rrrrrrrrrrrrr

Cheers Feel better now

Maybe if you made it more about other people and less about you, you might enjoy it.

Youngbull,

I agree..... I hate Christmas with a passion . It is not a very enjoyable part of the year. It is so commercialized and over emphasised..

Did all my shopping on Amazon in 10 minutes... arrived wrapped the next day

I hate the religious bull****, but I like that people try to make an effort to be less wankertastic... hope it continues a bit longer.

I find it funny that everyone that dosent believe in god or religion celebrate the birth of christ???? lol,, Suckers. Do you know what your celebrating?? Kmart loves you guys. ha ha he.
But I must admit, I LOVE Xmas and boxing day, I go to work and earn a 250% wage rise Then take time off and holidays to see family or friends I care about once all the tourists have gone home and the beaches and highways are empty again. Happy Days.
Still cant remember santa turning up with the 3 wise men to give baby Jesus presents??? Although I dont know the bible very well.
The 1st Wiseman gave gold.
The 2nd Wiseman gave Frankincense.
The 3rd Wiseman gave Myrrh.
And Santa gave a new ipad with wifi. But jesus had thy sh!ts with thy ipad as it did not come with Angry birds pre-installed.

Nah, Christmas came before Christianity. It just had a different name.

Whatever. I appreciate any excuse to drink, eat, be merry and share time with family and friends who want to be together. I vote for Christmas, or whatever you wanna call it.

Merry "X"mas Seabreezers! (X=any denominational or non-denominational nomenclature you wish to insert).

A happy little Christmas story.....

I like to shop in the early mornings to avoid the manic crowds. The other day I'd just finished my shop and went to wait in line at the check out. As I pulled up I didn't realise but they'd just closed one of the two available check outs, a woman who had been waiting in line at the check out which had been closed with enough food in her trolley to feed Africa barged over in front of me and said grumpily "I was waiting first". Couldn't be bothered arguing the point and was standing contemplating the meaning of Christmas and good will to men and how this time of year brings out the best in people when a staff member breezed past and said to me that I could come to the next check out where no one was waiting. Smiling on the inside and appreciative of power of karma I was out of there before grumpy'd even begin unloading. Sometimes it's the small things...ho, ho, ho

I'd have to admit that I'd hate the Christmas you hate just as much as you hate it. However, I do love the real Christmas.

To me its just a day set aside to celebrate the birth of Christ.

As I recall, Jesus didn't like people selling in the temple, same probably goes for people making money out of commercial christmas. They are afterall modern day moneychangers.

WWJD?, probably go burn down Big W or David Jones!

Makes me wonder... Jesus Christ would probably share the same thoughts you have on not liking the season too. It's become very self centered and less about others.

Jesus message was love, end of story, not rack up the credit card.

Ahh bugger ya - yes he will... He make's any thing sad/bad a positive..

On another note it should have something to do with me to. Why should I solely focus year after year on everyone else, it would be
nice just one year to be sitting back receiving gifts and sms's not to mention simple plain family time away normal life.

Don't you get huge enjoyment from your young bloke getting excited that santa is coming? He probably cant even sleep at night with excitment. The look of happiness on his (and the wifes) face as they opens presents and play with their new toys. I'm not a dad but surely that gift is better than anything else you might recieve?

Sure Christmas has become way to expensive and to some of us, christ isnt even real but most would agree that kids and most family members make it all worthwhile.

Christmas can be as simple and enjoyable, or as crazy and unenjoyable as you make it to be.

Last week my 15 year old asked us to NOT buy her anything for Christmas. (Although my 9 year old gave us a hefty list to post to Santa.)

I like most of the aspects of Christmas, mainly taking time off work to spend it with the people you love.

The part I don't like is feeling obliged to buy gifts for lots of people who don't really want them (eg office secret Santa). What a waste of time, money and resources. People used to get a bunch of plastic rubbish joke presents, until we came up with a better plan in our office. Now we all buy one toy each and donate the lot to a local charity that distributes them to less fortunate kids (I always buy a kite). In an office of around 100 staff, that's a couple of thousand dollars much better spent.

We celebrate a day based on things that are not real (Santa & God).. Then we buy crap people don't want or need and we stuff ourselves with food and grog that we definitely don't need... It has gotten out of hand... I guess that is the cross we have to bare being a wealthy country...

But I do like that it makes the kids happy...even though they already have too much...

In relation to giving gifts to people at work, I don't do it anymore. I prepare some food to share at morning tea. It's much better than giving some stuff which the recipient doesn't really want.

As a ritual Xmas is ok. It forces people to do things that might be good and build links in the community but that people are too slack or busy or distracted to do. The same applies to all religions and most other cultural constructs (football teams, remembrance services etc)

The thing that is wrong with Xmas and religions and all the other things is that people try to impose their traditions on everybody else, and businesses commercialise them.

Personally I think Xmas sucks. I don't want to get together with a bunch of people I don't like and do things I don't want to do. I don't want to buy crap for people and I don't want to get crap from people. I hate it that people who can't afford it are spending heaps on garbage.

I hate that it happens in the peak of the summer season when there's wind and sunshine and long days. I much prefer to have social gatherings in winter when the days are short and the weather is crap.

I particularly think Xmas is wasted on children. It's cute with the tiny ones, but when they get a little older the mercenary little ****s are just in it for the loot.

What i dont enjoy is all the preachers and people still believe in god and jesus and having to hear that utter brains washing ****n garbage.

I watched Agony Aunts and Uncles Xmas. Lawrence Mooney was explaining to the in-law nieces and nephews about how Easter is when the Romans nailed this Jew to a wooden cross and watched him die slowly. The Father-in-law stopped him and made it clear the Easter was about chocolate eggs and bunny rabbits and no other interpretation was permitted. Very funny. Very true.

Wow. Just wow.

People forge the true meaning of Christmas because they got so caught up in their own goddam consumer driven desires.

If people took some time to remember that Santa Claus dies on the cross so we could all have presents every year, perhaps some of you might feel connected once again, just like when you were children.

Just think how hard Jesus has to work every 25th December, driving that sleigh around, he must be freezing in that tiny loin cloth, with just his beard to keep him warm. Dude is so hungry yet he toils and toils to get you your presents. Lucky he is skinny enough to fit down most of your chimneys. Well, those of you that deserve it anyway.
