Impressive.

How good is Nobby doing cut-backs, jumps and other moves on that huge board with a soft sail? Notice no harness....what a sailor!!

Orsom.

Glad you all enjoyed a through back to the Eighties....Here's another time warp

Part 1 of the Maui Grand Prix

This video by Tom Tatum was really defining for all the others that followed like the O'neill invitations and the Aloha Classics. Windsurf Celebrity interviews include Robby Naish, Mike Waltze and Julie De Werd. Other snippets include some real big wave sailing for its time with Mike Waltze and Fred haywood. A very young Peter Cabrinha describing the boards of the time and rare footage of Arnaud De Rosnay.
This video really did show how you could bring Windsurfing to the big time.

For those of you who enjoyed Part 1 of the Maui Grand Prix also on my site here is Part 2.

Some excellent opening big wave action with Mike Waltze going through the Lanes (the launch next to hookipa) and Fred Haywood (yellow sail) getting eaten by some big waves. Also some rare footage of the French Windsurf
Adventurer of the time Arnaud de Rosnay. Also the women windsurfers competition includes Rhonda Smith and Julie de Werd. Final includes Mike Waltze and Matt Schweitzer (son of windsurf inventor).

Enjoy.....

Hope you have all enjoyed my youtube channel...

Next video is back to 1983 and the WSMA (Pre PWA) World Cup Final at Scheveningen.

Part 1:

Part 2:

This was my first view of the World Cup Scene in Europe which showed the
strength of European sailing. Just loved the Le Mans start and gale force wind
slalom...Lots of footage of Robby Naish wave sailing and getting upside down.

Enjoy.....
