That was OK, until you caught the waves. Keep practicing.

Something to aspire to perhaps?

Doesn't listen to the haters mate - just a bunch of grumpy old men.

Enjoy yourself out there!

Panda, that is one of the best go pro vids I have seen, I hate them generally.

I used to body board but living at maroubra I didn't get too much respect haha. Its good when the waves are too sucky to surf.

I used to bodyboard a lot as a teenager. I still can of course, but 360s don't lend themselves so well to my back these days.
I copped a bit of flak but a better surfer is a better surfer and can maneuver into a better position no matter what they're on. I never had any trouble getting waves. I used to drop into anything.

Favourite move: Building up heaps of speed and dropping down into a late bottom turn and just ducking under the lip of a closeout section, then rolling up, through and flying out the top of the barrel, heaps of air and hopefully landing on the lip that is now bouncing back up for a cushy landing.

And of course tubes. You can stay in a closeout for a lot longer than most people think.

I'll admit surfing is better but each to their own. By the time I had a chance to learn stand-up I was already too far progressed and hating wasting all the waves. In the end going head first like a dolphin, and constantly feeling the wave with your fins/feet, feels very attached to the wave.

Just remembered - favourite board: A custom white Turbo XLR8 I picked up in Hawaii. Fast.

And if anyone can tell me the name of the surf movie that came out around... 1989, with Occy and Mike Stewart surfing G-Land I'd be most appreciative. Never seen the footage since.

I grew up surfing surfboards, but used to get on my brother's body boards - heaps of fun to be had!

It would be cool to see a resurgence of boogers.

I missed the days of seeing drop knee action deep in the pit, someone drop kneeing and smacking a lip...... barrel rolls!!!... it was cool to watch... churchhill flippers, and the Mach 77 days!!! Ah... getting nostalgic :D

Yeah I remember the Turbos, awesome boards. My brother had the 77, 8TX and the BenS Turbs....

I had a black Manta, I thought I was the coolest ever!

Wifey still has her old pink BZ from 92, still in decent condition as well!

Keep getting in the water. Time On Water - makes all the difference.

I used to body board as a youngster and this Mike Stewart was always the legend. He puts the sport into a very positive light as far as I am concerned.
