Hi,

I am usually not much in forums but I think this is a note worth posting. Just received the following message from a good friend:

"Dear Karin,

today I am contacting you regarding an amazing initiative organised by a coalition of NGOs in Australia to give the establishment of strictly protected areas a boost.
The coming week is essential. The Australian Minister for Environment is considering the future conservation status for large areas of Australian waters, as you can see in the map attached.
As you see, the potential for success is huge, but the risk of losing this opportunity is at least as high.
WDCS promotes the coalition's initiative internationally and see it would be really amazing to have you get engaged as well communicating this important initiative to the windsurf community, especially in Australia.
Please join the voices calling the Australian Government to follow scientific recommendations and put in place a network of large marine sanctuaries throughout these waters. Call on them to set a new international standard for protection of this wonderful part of the world.
There is a chance to have a unique decision being made which sets a shining example internationally to protect large ecosystems and its wildlife.
Take Action and send your Protest E-mail today:
WDCS, Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society

WDCS online email to the Environment Minister: secure2.wdcs.org/view_e_protest_common.php?e_protest_select=47&&select=535

SOML online email to the Prime Minister: http://www.saveourmarinelife.org.au/sandy/#petition

We appreciate your support!"

What a load of shhhiiiit , what about the marine life in the eastern states???

oh thats right, we are building the worlds second biggest desal plant here in Wonthaggi , so our marine creatures are doomed anyhow!!!! so stiff shiiiit aye !!

The Brumby Gov will be remembered as the " a holes" who destroyed the marine life in northern bass straight . by turning the local area into the dead sea !!

Narr. She be right mate. The only people who will be allowed to eat Australian fish will be the university research types who who will have to eat the fish they kill in the name of research and the rest of us will be stuck with the disease, hormone and pollution ridden "Basa (cat fish) and rubber prawns from the Mekong Delta.

That will keep the "Cancer Foundations" going with all the research on new types of cancer that will emerge.

It will keep the surgeons going with all the new birth deformities.

Shut all the fisheries down worldwide I say. If a few billion people die in misery it does not matter as long as them fish and dolphins and whales have a good time.

The world needs a major stroke of human depopulation anyway. Just ask any Bilderberger, Rothschild, Rockerfeller or member of a "Royal Family" and they will confirm it.

yours is a much smaller water factory , and much different location . yours will get flushed out much more than this area .

I hope im wrong ... but i recon this masive desal plant is a huge gamble with our eco system.

^^^ gotta agree. any change to the coast will cause another change of some sort, but occasionally they do get it right and i hope that one in vico will be one of those.

Don't we already have marine parks & sanctuaries in Vic? 20-25 of them scattered along the coast of Vic from memory. I know there's one here because I have to walk 20m to the right along the beach from where the walking track meets it to make sure I don't fish in it!
