just after any knowledge some of you may have regarding the legalities of road closures. I know if main roads puts up road closed signs there is a large fine but does any other gov departments have the authority to close DPI roads. The reason I am asking is it seems certain departments are using road closed signs at their whim yet as far as I know do not or probably can't actually enforce the closure.
lartay beechy roads are sometimes closed by the wildlife mob
to protect beach migrating waders/waterbirds and egg laying turtles and
over fished beaches from desecration by well meaning Yobbos'
As I understand it, whoever has responsibility for a road has to right to close it, whether it be Main Roads, DEC or shire of exmouth. Presumably they all have the option to prosecute if they can be bothered.
thanks for the replies. It was a temporary closure due to bushfires that were over 10km away from the road and traveling further away. Hence it seemed an overkill but I didn't test wether they would fine me for going through. I later found out they havn't fined anyone going through so it was just a bluff. The funny thing is the fires are traveling towards the main road which is the same distance yet hasn't been closed. Any way I should be used to being screwed by this environment department by now
There are provisions for emergency services to close roads as they see fit, after the Boorabin fire where the truckies got killed it has rightfully become of greater importance.
I've had a gutfull pof the road closures lately, every week it seems
Ph-ck it, I;m buyin a plane !!
One like this should do the trick!
You left the door open. You better close it otherwise the battery will go flat and then how're you going to push start it?
