I'm looking for people to try this out. you need any kind of sail, and any kind of turbine. the easiest way to get it up and running : make a sail. whatever sail you make, be holding it against the wind. Some one else take a handheld turbine and find the highest flow rate. it's a little mysterious sometimes. I suggest you end up with triple the output from your turbine. I've got a marine battery charging turbine and I think I blew it on the first attempt, it only reads zero volts now. my sail is two 8 foot poles and a sheet with ropes at the four corners. It took me a while to find a position where I could direct the wind at the turbine, my sail runs the wind along the ground. Here's my favorite picture, but the turbine might should be lower on the sail.

Why not use a funnel instead of a sail?

Wind turbine is designed to last 10 -20 years on single set of blades.

How long any sail will last is such conditions? Not long enough to pay for itself.
