If she was learning she might not know better, looks like others knew better and had the camera on just for laughs at her expense. Stupid.

Watching this just firms up my conviction that the kiting community needs to take more collective responsibility for newbs who look like they might be about to do something really dumb. Especially those of us in populated spots run the risk of having the sport banned in our favorite spots if we don't as a group put pressure on the beginners to avoid populated beaches until they are competent.

I've had the incredible priveleged of living in a remote area for the past 2 years and kiting at my local beach 4-5 days a week with literally nobody else on the beach. Now I'm moving to Newcastle and reading about people wanting to get kitesurfing banned at Nobbys, and other places.

As a small community we're all tarred with the same brush - and unfortunately it's the idiots that will ruin it for us if we don't put pressure on ourselves.

I live in country SA and don't ya just love the pristine beaches all to yourself.

thing is you can get to used to it.

I spent half this year in Newy and its a fantastic place but Nobbies can be a bit of a sh!t place to kite if your not used to it. Saw a lot of weird stuff going on there.

Its a great spot if there's any less than a dozen reasonably experienced kiters but when a lot of Newbs turn up you'll need eyes in the back of your head.

Watch out for dudes in speedo's and bike helmets on with big kites. Their Euro's and their out to get ya.

There's not a lot around Newy for beginers other than Nobbies. Quite a few spots for the experienced however.

Its a bit harsh calling then Idiots. Sometimes it comes down to the standard of Instructing thats on offer.

Was I the only proud one who shed a tear proudly being a kiter?
