Hi Guys,
The event is on again this year, 14th - 16th of June in Mackay (East Point, Pioneer River mouth and surroundings)
I have had a bunch of people enquiring over the past month about the event and its format, I just wanted to outline on seabreeze what the event is about and what we are trying to achieve..
The event was established last year to promote both sponsored and non sponsored riders, also a chance to experiment with events like Border X ( course racing) and a wake winch park as well as Freestyle etc.
This event is open to all rider of every skill level and age, this is a competition but there will be a category to suit your riding ability. The aim is to maximise participation to allow everyone a chance to compete in an event without feeling intimidated by the big guns.
There are 2 devisions. PRO and OPEN
Pro
The Pro division is set for kiter's that are sponsored in any way. This means if you have been helped financially or simply given product from a company, representative or shop and are currently riding for that shop or brand, you will enter the Pro division..
OPEN
The Open division is for all others that pay for their gear and are not affiliated with any shop or brand. This division will allow you the chance to be seen by possible sponsors for future progression, or for the people who just want to have a go.
The events at the compe are explained below,
Freestyle
Freestyle event will take place in the flat water of the River mouth. An out going tide is forecast all day and offers glassy flat water to ride in. The Freestyle event will run in divisional heats, eg. all riders in the Open Men's division will ride for 1/2 hour and the top 5 will be selected from that heat for the final.... (subject to change due to numbers)
Boarder X
The Boarder X event will be a race around a set coarse, that includes upwind and downwind legs. The race will be in groups of 2-4 people at once and will be held in the River mouth also.
PRIZES
We have some great prizes as well as cash. The Cash will only be awarded to those in the PRO division and the prizes will be awarded to the OPEN Divisions.
Party
Well this is what the comp got its name for, the PARTY. Its planned to be better than last year, with a bunch more planned.
We really want you all to come to this event. Its a great chance to catch up and meet new people, as well as visit Mackay's unreal locations for kiting..
