Just wondering if anyone was planning on heading down to Rye (Vic) tomorrow? Just keen to know what people are thinking about the forecast:
Tonight and Saturday
Northerly wind 10 to 15 knots increasing to 20 to 25 knots early tomorrow. Stronger winds possible in squalls associated with thunderstorms. Wind easing to 15 to 20 knots at night. Waves 1 to 2 metres.
I'm guessing it is pretty easy to see a thunderstorm coming so wouldn't be too risky with the squalls but would be keen to get someone elses experienced view on this...
i have headed down last 2 days and got no wind there on the same forecast.. but, yeah, ill get burned 3 days in a row for sure
Might try it as well. So, seems to be busy out there tomorrow.
Any other good spots with northerly winds ?
Rosebud/Rye is the pick of it. Pt Henry has flat water, but weeds and an abrasive setup area...but no beachgoers to contend with either.
Forecast has changed already...f***in BOM are hopeless.
Anyone followed this forecast ?

Seems to be more accurate than the BoM.
Ah crap, 20 - 30 knots and gusty is the BOM forecast now with a strong wind warning.
Might head down for a look anyway can't be anymore dissapointed than I have been for just about everyday for the last 2 weeks.... [}:)]
Bugger, theres about a minute of audio at the end with no vid that I forgot to delete before transcoding,"just ignore it"
Hey doppelganger nice spot, nice and lonely. Ive heard there are nasties in the water there. Like urchins and vicious giant octopus which drag both you and your kite down to Davey Jones locker (argh argh like a pirate.)
Im suspect on the second one but are there urchins and what wind direction does it work in
I believe it works in anything with North in it, I've kited there once with a straight South at the first carpark in Stinray Bay and it was fine, but it's not worth the gamble(Drive) for a southerly as opposed to Northerlys. I've never worn booties and never had a problem untill yesterday, stepped on something that penetrated, stung like a bee sting for about 10 minutes, then all was good.
Tide timings are important for a good session( high tide )and as Mr Plow mentioned earlier, abbrasive set up area's and Stink weed
(www.seabreeze.com.au/gallery/gallery.asp?imageid=1853 )abound at low tide.
