Hello Jim,
bring your bigger kite, you can kite at Benoa but no rental or schools there.
Pretty much the same wind as Sanur.
Bye Jankie

Thanks Jankie,

where are you guys compared to where i will be? May do a day trip and say hi?

Cheers

Jim

Um. Go to Sanur and wander down near bali Santrian or rip curl and look for kites. Bit hard to explain. There are several spots.

Jankie might explain.

Get a taxi to the Sanur beach hotel, walk through lobby, pass pool to beach, turn right can't miss it.

... wind dropped off a bit last few days and for me personally, with no Dyno means not worth kiting until wind picks up. Boys been out and smashing it up though. New boat still on Baby reef, hasn't moved an inch by the look of it but since coming onto neap tides might have to wait til it get to springs again before they attempt to get off.

Yesterday the swell was massive, biggest I've ever seen it before, the roar of the waves breaking was very impressive indeed. Damn shame the wind wasn't playing ball so couldn't get out there.

Bikes boat fell over in the middle of the night, one of the bamboo supports broke and ripped the winch off the mast too. All good and he's not worried now, but was a shock at first, taking it in his stride as only he does. The lunches at Putu's warung have been outstanding btw.

Wind coming back tomorrow so here's hoping!!!!

cheers for now,

Robbie

Thanks Big fella. I'm so sorry about the kite.

I know you are going through a difficult time with the loss of a close family member and detect a sadness in your response

May the Dyno and its variations rest in peace. It's memory will remain strong .

Your friends will support you through this time. Your kite/s gave fully of itself until the last stitch , along with busted spreader bar.

We know it hung on until the end when it had to say " that'll do boss". It was an honourable and faithful friend.

You and stories of the Dyno are written in legend.

It might be time to write a different legend. Who knows where it take us but I look forward to the journey.

... I got caught up in the moment,,,, low tide,,,, lots of wind,,,, and all the gromms throwing down,,,,, I decided it was time to throw my hat in the ring too and do some twin tip action. Poor old Dyno didn't like me doing kiteloops and dangles so very next day while setting up my lines, the damn kite exploded, right there on the beach . 4 foot tear in the leading edge, broken in the same spot around the zipper,,,, again,,, bladder in tatters,,, me with sad face. I've spent hundreds of bucks in repairs and I think its time to retire the old girl. It made on hell of a bang by the way!!!

if you need to find kite beach in Sanur on any of the areas there is a nice MAP with address in our Web site.
Or come to our shop and then you can walk down to it.
Yes wind is a bit down but yesterday on my 14m I was tearing it up..

I know we should be careful about what we say on the forum but this is just a fact . Shoot me down if you like .
Yes a couple of us have had the same problem with this kite up here. There is no doubt Bomber loves the performance of the 18 but has been let down by the lightness of the build .

You should be able to match it with the groms without worrying about your kite holding together . I watched it's slow expiry over a couple of days begin with the odd strut and then catastrophic failure in the leading edge - on the beach ...
The kite has been treated with kid gloves - no crashing or abuse - only expert use . Constant worry about overinflating. Eppo - you have seen Bomber ride - smooth styling and poetry in motion for a big fella.

Hope the crew are helping him through a difficult time without the Dyno in his final week .

Hello friends as this Post is call Bali in July I think is good to close it with some statistic:

July Wind Recap (Sanur)
After the worst June in history July finally delivered some quality conditions for us.
I counted 25 kiteable days:
9-13 knots: 7 days
11-16 knots: 8 days
13-20 knots: 10 days
If we consider percentage is just over 80% of days in the water, pretty good for Bali..
Also report from West Bali-East Java (Gilimanuk-Banjuanghi) that wind is been NUKING there pretty much no stop the last 3 weeks..

Bye Jankie

Plenty of wind yesterday but virtually nothing at Balian today, it came in for a few minutes but by the time a couple of guys pumped up it was gone.
Wonder what Bali in August will bring?

... damn,,,, home now,,,,, 16 days out of 21 and to be honest, lost days due to Bintang and Arak attacks (thanks Ketut for being such a good sales man and showing us all the Comets and shooting stars). Gromms have kited every day,,,, oh to be a teenager again. Last days for me were some of the best, had hours out the back in some head high waves and nicely powered on a borrowed 16m (thanks Tone!!). Best trip ever!!!!

Man I kited so much came back real sick hey and not Bali belly. Just ran my immune system into the ground. Reminded me of my old road cycling days.

Or it could be the beers being drunk in between session. Jesus those Darwinians are made of harder stuff I tell ya! Will try and find that picture of Eddie with all those bottles in his basket on the bike doing a rubbish run! Hang on..

... man those beers between sessions are soooo much fun but man did my liver cop a hiding,,,, again,,,, especially the last days there, wind from morning to night makes for many many beers indeed,,,, then the arak comes out,,,,,,,,and then the burbon,,,,,,, ,,, nah, loved it.

Thanks to Ian (HAAK) too for shouting heaps of beers too . We made Kojacks local kite schools yearly budget in a couple of weeks I think, bad luck to the Ripcurl kite school, we would have spent millions per day there had they just got the beer cold in time (hey,,, is it wrong for wanting a beer at 10:30 am after a 2 hour session???? That's not a un-reasonable request is it ?????).

Tee hee, I was asked again by some euro's, "please excuse me, sorry for my badest english,,, but how does you kite and haves so much Bintangs and stay out for so long???".

"Ummmm,,,,, I just do,,,, doesn't every one???", I reply with a sheepish grin!

cheers for now,

Robbie

Beautiful pic Eppo. Pity about the bloke with the gut. Note it's not Puetz. This most likely just his beer empties. One of the first trips to top I believe

I've only been here 5 years. Still impressed by the consumption. ( nothing to be proud of but??? ). It's not over the top but constant. I have beers on ice as we speak in the car just in case. Arak is out though.

You have to go to a different place after a few.( Guys, you know how weak I am). We have developed a special style of kiting in skinny wind and a hot place.

Beers , our mates , family and kiting is a common passion. If we can share this in exotic places , what a buzz. Bali , Vietnam , wherever. Life is a celebration of the soul. Darwin brings that out.

Seriously, Putus and Ketut's warung is awesome. Eppo , see you next year. Bring the family down , it's a happy place. Fish on the barbie , fresh sambal, cold bintang and a kite. Start practicing. Ian , hope to catch up next year.

Have to catch up with the big fella and commiserate over the Dyno's demise. I think zephyr testing is the go. Hope it's got the grunt.

Yeah kite 10 out of 13 days. Great holiday, going home for a rest.
Great holiday made possible by a great crew and new found hospitality.
If your thinking of a holiday soon or maybe next year make sure you check out Bagus kiteboarding Bali. kutet and putu are locals making a go of it and doing a great job.
Hey Eddie, the big fella is talking about a trip to robe, keep at him

Sold all of my kit today so it looks like I,am up for some new gear.

I'll keep trying. But the thought of "cooler " conditions puts the fear of god into the toughest of long term Darwinians.

There has been some talk about having a look at SE of SA coast. I know its one of Oz's coastal secrets. We'll see.
The big fella will enjoy heavy air and smaller kites hey.

Might be bourbon rather than beers though.

Sounds like everyone has sold their gear!

Sold the lot Robbie, even the coffin roller bag.

Not sure what big kite to buy next.

Certainly won't be buying another light wind TT old surf board and skim board for me next year.

No brainer which beach I'll be kiting from next year, but lets keep that our secret.
Can't vouch for the Bintang but the rest was first class. If it wasn't for Bagus crew I'll probably still be swimming from that wipe out at Occa's

Does this mean you are heading down the Cat track or just the 14?

I thought you would like the Cat but I'm surprised that it's got the bottom end grunt you are looking for. Whats the bottom end like compared to the 14 Rebel? (might be on my bucket list as well!!)

I like the idea of a rather large edge, will buy anything at the right price
