Ben, I heard you learned that for your style of kite surfing you actually don't need a kite. Is this the reason you no longer need slingshot..?

I see you as someone who helped pioneer the sport of Kitesurfing, and help drive it in the direction it has taken.
I don't think there are many out there who wouldn't see you as an inspiration, guide or hero to follow.

As i far as im concerned you where the face of slingshot, you'd ben there from pretty much the beginning and definately led the way in the waves and pushed the sport. Probaly the nicest way anyone has ever left a company. All the best

Good luck with your future .I remember first seeing you ages ago on an ar5 naish really doing really out there stuff for the time . For any of the young fellas or girls out there with some talent take a leaf out of Ben's book on how to go hard for what you want out of like, self promote and make it ,doing something you love.While being gracious in that pursuit.

Not aimed at you sammyd, but it amazes me sometimes, how little people know about Australian kiting history.
Yeah have to agree with you there rowdy, and in my opinion the king is Wilson... He is the man, and will continue to be even after the relationship with slingshot ends. Just on a side note, does anyone know what booney and balls are doin these days? Have not heard of them in a while...
i think balls still kites occasionally if there is a bay wave, and boon doesn't kite at all anymore.
pretty clever promo stuff by ben wilson: announce publicly via as many channels possible that you've left a sponsor, but leave it up in the air as to who you ride for now. that way it gets everyone talking and focussed on you and your brand.
Does this mean there will be a flood of Rev's and Octanes on the secondhand market when all the wavekiters buy the new 'must have' wave kite.
I started Kite Boarding 3 years ago... your contribution to the sport has been an inspiration to me and I'm sure many others.... I'm now kite Surfing the Qld waves, thanks!

I heard from a reliable source he taking up a lucrative offer from 2 new companies- Speedo and Croc's and possibly getting out of the kite scene and going in a new direction
A mate of his told me he is now taking his kiting away from Surf and into Water Aerobics.
Thanks so much for all the positive feedback and well wishes, I'm really blown away with all the support.
Many of you are wondering what I am too; well there are a few things I can tell you. Firstly I'm not giving up kiting..... In fact far from it as I’m loving it more than ever theses days.
I'm going to be focusing even more on producing VISION, in the form of DVD’s, Web clips, some film stuff and TV to share my passion of kite-surfing with others.
I’m even more motivated to push the boundaries of riding waves with a kite and hopefully get some really big ones in the near future.
We will be running more Accelerator Wave camps around the globe based on the success of our camps in Bali.
I'm now working with some non-kiting based sponsors, which will allow me even more freedom to pursue the dream.
There are a few other projects in the pipeline, which are top secret at this stage, but as soon as I can share them I will.
So stay tuned..... This is a just a new beginning!
