^ True, watched it from the water, it was crazy, he was riding boots to... wtf. I considered giving him my 1st place check for it... nearly haha. What year was that anyway? man time flys. I reckon most groms would never have even heard of him or many other good riders from back then.

That second shot is sweet, the first is terrible. Looks nothing a like in straps and takes all the skill away from learning the trick. It's a trick you can do first shot in straps just about, but could take you longer than some mobes or rolls to blind in bindings.

I dunno. Not a judge or anything but the vertical looks more aesthetically pleasing to me.

Those Ugg Boots things in the second picture look SO GAY

The first is pretty dangle, and in straps is a basic trick. If you are doing the trick in boots that is a hard position to get into, in straps it's a given, it's harder not to tweak it like that. I guess that is why I came to my assumption. Plus I like the trick done as a kite low glide rather than a dangled tweak.

Jesus walk has always impressed me.

Cool- Also known as the Damo in some circles.
But best ever gob-smacker old school move for me was seeing Aaron Jarmins 'board-off to handstand transition'. That was before I even knew tricks other than boosting existed.
Ive been told he used to throw a backroll into the transition as well - on his better days obvioulsy.

I remember Aaron Jamins "ironing boards" haha, classic. What ever happened to him anyway? Did he hibernate in his doona? seriously though, anyone know?

So the basis of your appreciation is that the Ugg Boots makes it harder?

Yes Uggs do make it harder but is not my sole basis of appreciation.
Appreciation as follows;
1. That he is doing the trick properly (he is grabbing nuke)
2. His kite is low, and he is gliding out.
3. I respect that he is doing something that takes a certain amount of skill to learn (yes with uggs on) and doesn't happen first try (like in strap ons).

theres a shot of ben in one of the tannum vids doing this F*ck off kiteloop then tries to go for a front blind mobe 7 haha it is easily one of the gnarliest things i've seen for a while!

that vid was posted in 07 so it was pretty old stuff too... shows how much kiteloop HPs have gone backwards.

I heard he gave up hard core riding and settled back into waves.
Even picked up a trophy somewhere down the line

Hopefully the thing ripped his jaw off. Something about animal cruelty that doesn't really come across as a sport to me.

And that one of Ben Foote is sweet! No wonder half of Australia's riders are wearing knee braces. We're the only ones who don't ride with our kites at 12.

dont generalise the whole aus pop just because of what the tannum crew and a couple of other small crews round the place have been doing

80% are still trying to replicate the delorean.

Nath Prest. Cam and Tony's bro. He dropped out of the scene for a while but I heard he just got a new kite again off Cambo.

Wow what a blast from the past!

Hello Everyone I've been in hiding i guess, mostly cuz my kites dont pump up anymore and because my nearly 30year old bones needed a rest. lol

8 years of skating comps and wiping out on concrete then 4 years of kiting hard everyday has its toll.

Thats funny seeing that vid (You can send me a cheque still Alex, haha) No seriously send me a kite.

On the topic though Dre's riding always did it for me

Doing any trick with speed, power and a smooth flawless style will leave you saying "dam that looked good!"

But in the meantime I been training my little 2.5 yr boy Cooper on the kitebar with the trampoline. Moohahahahahahaha

Anyway good to see all of you still around! Peace
