Arriving on Saturday in Cairns for a week .....Seabreeze looks great, Bringing 9m and 13m anyway, is the tide gonna be right for green island, i know about Yorkeys, wot else is good within driving distance with something to occupy the woman folk nearby.
There won't be enough water to kite at Green next week. It may be okay on Saturday and Sunday but after that I think it will be a little low. Give Cairns the flick and take the chicks to Port and Kite there.

Camo,
I shouldn't even comment after my last post but.........
As you are now the PR rep for Cairns I will back your call and suggest that there is no better place to kite in FNQ than Port Douglas. At least you won't get sent out of the smooth water the practice your gybes?
i hear there are about 6 nice young kiter girls hanging at yorkies at the moment
no wonder the boys are setting up ther moves
I see some of the local have even bought some new clobber to improve their appearance

Just editing some pics from a Lizard trip in June.....noticed this lefthand wave working off Haycock Island, offshore from Palm Cove.
Have any of the Cairns crew tried this spot?
Looks like you could launch from the sandspit on the corner of Double Island?

I have kited Double Island quite a few times and the waves are really small and break over a shallow bottom, not really that rideable. Good fun between Scouts Hat and Double Island over the shallow water (waist deep plus on the right tide) and the water is clear unlike on the Palm Cove beach itself which has the usual Cairns brown water.
Thanks for all the tips everyone. We had had a great weeks kiting ..... Yorkies is a great spot at the moment. Took some advice moved out off Cairns and got an appartment on Yorkies.( next to the coffee shop) Drove up to Port on one day only to find no wind Had a chat with some onf the locals drove back to Yorkies got a late Avo session in. Once we got talking to some of the locals at Yorkies we found there is a good bunch of guys up there .... but on the Sunday (our first day) it wasn't to friendly. Thanks to the guys at Kite rite for helping with some bits for my board.
All in all sore arms and legs tell me it was a great trip.....Thanks all.
