On the offchance anyone on here actually has an old C3 corvette, in your opinion would a board (say a 135) fit ok in the gap behind the seats above the rear wheel wells (i.e. the space in this pic I found from a '68 convertible)?

The boot strut/supports might get in the way by look of that photo, If it doesn't fit there it'll fit on the passenger seat down to the footwell :) That's what I do in the Skyline

Works in my new Ferrari--can't imagine you can't do the same in the Vette -- just all happening on the opposite end.

Sounds like a good way to ruin a nice car !!

Seriously it will get more rust and sand in it ...in the next three years being driven to the beach than it did in the previous 40 years.

Unlike the photos copied from websites above...my Lotus has me pictured in the seat....(see pics in profile).

Anyhow, If you have an expensive car like a Fezza or Lotus... you'd be a mad man to take it kiting anyhow..... (unless you just pump your kite up and leave it in the grass park beside your car)(then not only are you a wannabe, you're a tosser too) Because as soon as you leave your car, It's gonna be fodder for all the haters out there.

Just do what I do, drive the luxury dick substitute to and from places where girls hang.... and leave the kiting to the second crappy car/wagon/forbee.

If you actually get your hands on that old vette tho...disregard all the above because it's in no way considered a " hater targetable vehicle".... and yes a mid sizes board will fit as the boot is 160cms wide.

Salt, sand, eventual rust is the reason why I always use my girlfriends car to head to the beach and haven't bother buying one of my own for a few years. However the great AUD/USD rates have encouraged me to buy and import the car I always wanted, hence the question about whether a board would fit inside for those times when she is out and about and I would otherwise miss a session. In any case the interior space is no longer an issue as finding a car with a luggage rack on the rear deck has solved that question. Having a fibreglass rather than a steel bodied car should also help with the usual body rust issues.
