I think we should have daylight savings all year round !!! Was just thinking about when it ends because that means its going to be hard to get a kite in after work now . What do you think ?
The cows get too confused... Seriously,my wifes family are farmers and they voted against it. I told them dont change your clocks, get up at your usual time and there wont be any difference, milk the cows at thesame bloody time, you dont have to change just coz your clock now says a different hour. There are so many morons out there it scares me.
What time is shown on the Sea Breeze VIC tide graphs during summer?
I have just assumed it's Daylight Savings Time.
I reccon daylight savings is arse about. Have it in the winter months when there is less light. You generally get up in the dark in winter anyway and DLS would have you comming home with still a little light left.
Shanyne is horribly right & horribly wrong in the one post.
If a farmer is running his herd to natural sun time - it effects production hugely if you dont - then nothing changes for the cockey. Just means last nights milking and this mornings milking will be picked up one hour earlier IF the truckie is running on DST. From there on its all quid-pro-quo.
If the milk isnt in the refridgerated vats before business hours; DS or no DS; (+ any driving time to your farm) then its time you gave up farming. And deliveries of processed milk to retailers etc has SFA to do with when cows are milked or milk is picked up. That could be weeks later.
Farmers are free to run whatever hours they like - unlike the poor working folk in the city who have to follow the rules.
BUT yes Perth is way west of mean time zone compared to Eastern States.
BUT this doesnt mean we cant benefit from an extra hr in summer.
Whats the good of having the sun up & shining at 4:30 in the morning. Might suit .001% of ppl but has to better for the rest.
IMO it should be adjusted in Perth for a full extra hour in winter and an extra 2 hrs in summer - but hey Im just one voter. I cant even get any sense made on the 1hr debate.
Time for another referendum I reckon.
Or do what I did and asked my boss if I could start at 8 not 9 and finish at 4 not 5. Kinda like I have day light savings!
Then again it would be great if every one had the same
The only problem with Daylight Savings is that you lose an hour's sleep every time it kicks in. On the other hand, whenever Daylight Savings finishes we always get an extra hour to spend in bed on a Sunday morning. Now I don't know about you lot but I quite like my lie-ins so I propose that instead of juggling the two every 6 months or so, we just keep moving the clocks backwards an hour - say every month?
This will also have the added advantage of keeping us all just a little bit younger and happier!
Everyone is different and everyone has and is entitled to have, their different take on it. The freedom to do so is whats so great about living where we do in the world eh'. As passionate as anyone might be for or against it here in Perth we trialed it for three years and it didn't get the nod. Time for some to simply accept the reality of the situation.
My own take on it is that I start work at 4am. So I get 4 hours Daylight Saving as it is. I Don't need five
(W)ait (A)while, or (W)hinging (A)lways - usually about GST refund/mining tax/lack of cheap labour/cost of housing/$4.50 coffees, Nyoongars who want to take over and all those communist ****ters east of a line from Ceduna to Darwin - doesn't need to put the clocks back one hour at the start of summer because it's already 32 years behind.
Doesn't matter anyway, as there will soon be none of the place to kite from once it's all sold to the Chinese, Japanese and anyone else smart enough to take the loot and run, Alan Bond-style. Good weather here though and plenty of Kiwis, Scots and South Africans to ensure a varied cultural mix ...
