I don't see it getting much of a mention anywhere which is surprising since internationally kites are challenging for the world speed sailing record, and probably, I think, gonna get it in the next 12 months.

It doesn't seem like Aussie kitesurfers are into speed, whereas GPS technology has seen a serious boom in speed-windsurfing over the past year.

Maybe it's the next big thing - or are you guys all too busy going for jumps? A GPS will also tell you how high you jumped btw!

Use your search function mate, it's had a fair bit of a mention on here before. Some of us do dabble in it, there was even a bit of an event at Sandy Point not long ago.

who works?

gps wouldnt be accurate enough to measure heights of jumps as it would generally be out by .5 - 1.5 m or something liek that.

Tom Raddis and I tried to get a WAKSA/WWA speed challenge off the ground a few times using the WWA radar but the politics was too much

Yes cranking up the speed is fun, but there are so many other more fun dimensions in kitesurfing that makes going fast boring. If you want speed try this... I used to race in the bridge to bridge (the fastest waterski race in the world) and after being pulled at over 160kph by a 300hp motor up a winding river with boats on either side 50 knots seems like snails pace [}:)]

No.... We don't use speed, crystal meth or any other drugs while kitesurfing here.
