Spent 2 weeks in coloundra with the family, dragging all my kiting gear half way across the country, only to get skunked. Rained almost every day (although still lovely and warm), 1 day kiting, then back to freezing vicco's cold water and my 4/3 steamer for the past week. Now the wind turns on!!!!! typical! [}:)]

The local crew I met there were super friendly and you guys have got an epic setup! Thanks for the friendly advice and sharing your local knowledge. I can't believe you guys have hot coffee, BBQ's and lush grass to setup/packup on, aswell as butter smooooth flat water! Hope I can return the hospitality if you ever venture down my way.

Enjoy the wind, sorry I can't be there to enjoy it with you.

cheers
fav (jealous vicco)

You came at the wrong time of year!!

Caloundra has NE seabreezes from October to December then SE trade winds from Jan to April.

Outside those months it is very fickle.

This year the SE are here early.....hello la Nina

Mainly because people were more interested in avoiding the torrential rain and flooding and few were overly keen on standing at the Cape Moreton Lighthouse to catch the 60kt gusts. The lighthouse sits at about 60m above sealevel too.

Most coastal areas had 30-35kts. Not usual weather but not unheard of either.
