Esperance is my fav spot of all, ....so don't go there.
I taught my 13yo to kite there in December. It was perfect.

Hi Capt Loopy,

Esperance is one of the most beautiful places on planet earth, ALbany and the whole Southern Coast is also beautiful and great for kiting. The forecast for the South Coast is good over the KS weekend.

Considering your missus isn't that enamoured with Surfing life, Augusta is the pick. She can drop you off and go into Margies for a day on the turps. Pleanty of stuff to do in and around Margs for both of you and you can score some wind and waves too.

You could score some serious brownies by spending a fun day with the cheese and kisses visiting the Bootleg Brewery, Chocolate shop, Cheese Factory, several Vineyards and then have a great feed in town followed by a night at the pub with some live music.

If camping, spend a night in the Boranup State Forest, go for an early surf at Boranup Beach or Coworamup rights.

Lots to do, fun for both and you get a good kite in at Augusta and score brownies. Everyone wins! Yay!

personally i wouldn't bother with the chocolate factory, cheese factory, providence or any of the big and well published places. THey are **** and overpriced and well crowded esp on a weekend . Fill the tank and drive through all the side roads around margs and discover some hidden gems amongst all the commercial **** .

Sorry darren wasn't an attack on you , just i ****ing hate the touristy **** in margs but there are soo many cool little places that are mostly empty and you get much better service .

but i agree with darren , stay in margs and leave her there and drive 20 minutes to augusta and orgasm over the flat water .

Just spent Fri, Sat & Sunday in Augusta and didn't want to leave.
Glassy water in the estuary stretching for over a km,
fun waves walking distance from the foreshore,
And friendly locals.
Oh,...And it was BLOWIN IT'S TITS OFF!
One guy was on a 4m
Can't wait to get back there

I'm heading down to margs tomorrow with the misses for 5 days, thankfully she also loves kiting and surfing. It's gonna be cranking easterlies!!!! What do I do? I know up around bunker bay and that will b onshore but I want some waves,

Is the south coast my only option to kite?

Augusta mate, although i reckon it's over-rated. But interesting place to kite and safe for newbies.

Would you kite in Albany itself?

There was no wind in Perth about a month ago and we drove down to Augusta and there was next to no wind. The next day (with the same forecast) we drove to Albany and it was blowing hard.

No one was kiting there. Is there a reason? Are there better places nearby than just in the harbour?

Albany looked good with a few windy shallow spots, although it was noticably cooler than Augusta.

Why no kiters?

There's a good chance we'll be discussing the exact opposite thing this time next year cause people keep advertising the sht out of these locations. Hey! Lure in a dozen vans of idiots while you're at it and they'll probably manage to get kiting banned from these spots indefinitely. Fair enough if you haven't viewed spruiking as an issue up until now..... or.... is there just old people on here and they don't intend on riding in a few years to come when there's dangerous amounts of kites out and it sux cause there's no room to try new tricks? Unfortunately surfing (as awesome as it is!) has become an overcrowded joke. It's sad but is true... and it'll happen to kiting quicker than you can say ' ummm where the F did all these dudes come from man?' (pending if we have any good spots left to ride cause the visitors don't give a **** and the council's stepped in). Well alot of us have been saying that for the last couple of years.... if you haven't yet, you soon will.
Oh I'm sure there'll be some intellectual responses against my post in regards to me not owning the beach, me not knowing what I'm talking about & those wondering where's the friendly kiting spirit's going? I'll reply to ur BS now as I'm not taking my chill pill... Whatever mate! You're a hero.
I'm not really an angry dude. I'm just frustrated that our sic local kiting community is being ruined in front of us by us. Hey, can we have an open house party at your house next weekend and can we go out of our way to post it on the net?
Slow down on the spruiking and crapping on & start riding!!
Someone pulled me up on labelling the location of a photo I posted a few years ago. Thank you as I learnt something.
Ummm for that particular spot it's all over now anyway. It's ruined/gone/mc fk'd. However you want to say it.
