The owners are awesome, spent some time there a few years back, they will definitely look after you.

Is right next to plantation island. There are a few options for kiting,
really depends what you are looking for...

We rock into Nadi airport Saturday Morning 16th, maybe I'll spot you there.

oops, that;s Nadi Airport not Funky fish.

how this map works, first zoom out to the 9th step of the ladder.
once on it note that the manaluca Islands are stringing out from the left hand side of the island going Northwest.
The Trade winds are SE which is coming from bottom RHS of picture heading to top LHS.
the Main Island is Hilly and has a definate dry side (Nadi) and a wet side (Suva).
due to the wind in many respects.
Enjoy your Holiday.

Hi Andy,

I've just got back from the Mamanuca Group in the Fiji Islands and can't wait to get back over there asap, the wind and water was awesome and now that the Trade Winds are back on schedule I may have to head back before summer starts :o)
The Fijian trip was the best kiting I've had in my 8 years of this sport, I'll be making it an annual trip

Bulaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Bula

I am also going Fiji, Malolo Lai Lai =Malolo smal smal ( in the Mamanuca Island group), going to stay at Lomani Island Resort.

Going to stay there for 1-3 months.

Landing in Nadi (3:25pm), Tue 15 Jul 2008.

What kite size are you bringing? And kite surf board? or just Twin tip?

Something that I should specially think of when going there?

Cheers Thomas The Norwegian,
we should def meet for a beer or a kite session.

Bula Thomas,

Since you are staying so long at Lomani , I would take both a Kite Surf Board and twin tip, you are only 6 odd kms away from Cloudbreak ( location of the last ASP round) so the surf is there if you want it.
If you head to Namotu Island for a Kite have a chat to Jason from Plantation Island to see if you can get permission from the owner of Namotu to rig up and ride there, we tried to organise a Session at Namotu followed by a Downwinder back to Malolo Lai Lai but the wind dropped off on our last days, next time.

As for kite size I would recommend a 12m SLE as your most used kite and a 9m SLE incase it really cranks up during your 3 month stay, look out for Jason's Pink and Black Helix.

Here are some good links to help work out tide times and of course wind

Ian,

Do you know of any other spots around Lomani (mololo lai), and what other winds etc?

Hi Jason,

The info I've posted is all I have at the moment after another trip next year I'm sure I'll hunt down some other spots around the Malolo Islands

If you track down Jason who lives in the Lomani resort he will be able to give you more info on kiting locations, he drives a roofless golf buggy with a Porche bonnet emblem he bought of ebay

Have a great time

Cheers

Best weather link for Malolo Island:
nadraki.com/

I am staying at Lomani/Plantation to 14 of sept flying a yellow Best Nemisis, driving a pink buggy, don´t hesitate to take contact. Or just ask the staff for the Norwegian and they will point you in my direction.

Cheers Thomas the Norwegian
