Ok well it's suppose to be a pretty good day out on the water in the afternoon in WA tomorrow..well Safety Bay is a good bet LOL..so why am I telling every one..? Well the last time we went out..we were alone..there is plenty of room for others..
So as far as the weather is concerned it will be good from lunchtime till eveningtime Sunday..the 6th of July..anyone in to catch some good eating fish?
Cheers Me
Does this qualify?
My first Spanish Mackeral Freedive Spearfishing.
Even more fun than kiting.
Good winds,
haha, the good winds fisherman and a few other wa suckers took the bait, like shooting fish in a barrell, easiest catches on seabreeze, thanks its been boring
Hey Blownway,
Nice fish too. Oh to dive in boardies and jacket only. Next time I come to QLD I'm bringing my gear
I just purchased a 5mm Long john and Jacket for the winters diving. Toasty warm but not the same as warm water. Our Mackies have now departed further north with the end of the warm currents.
Down to Dhufish, Baldchin, and Breaksea Cod none of which are too shabby on the plate Just much more difficult to get than the Mackies. Hows your UW fishing in general? And where are you based?
Good Diving??
Hey Kitehard, yeh I love my free dive fishing
that makie was caught in summer, its cold here too at the moment, sunshine coast
Froze my butt off on a downwinder yesterday.
You WA crew have diff fish to QLD
This is a black spot tusky in QLD,is this same as baldchin in WA?
The great barrier reef is just awsome
Hey BA,
Yep, we get some different species over here. Baldchin Groper (Baldies) are WA only. I think they come from the same family as the Blackspot Tuskfish (also called "Bluebone" over here). The Dhufish is the Western Australian Jewfish, although everyone incorrectly calls then "Dhuies".
Up north where our fishing is awesome we get a lot of same species as you guys including the coral trout and parroties etc.
Dhufish
Baldchin Groper
Both are excellent table fish with the Dhufish being one of the most expensive fish in WA. Often found selling at around +/- $80/kilo
I have dived the GBR once off Cairns (Hastings reef) but it was whilst blowing bubbles and before I started spearing. The fish life was awesome as you suggest. I'd love to bring my gear over next time.
If ever you want to try some WA spearing action, give me a call and we'll hook up the boat and drive north or jump on a boat with some of the club guys and head out to some of the outer banks (40 odd miles) for some big action
Cheers mate,
