Has anyone spent time on a wakeskate?

I've decided to spend the kite season on a wakeskate and I'm looking for a few suggestions of tricks to try.
So far I've managed pop-shovit's and some 180's, a few airs off waves and a few rails at the cable ski park.
My kick-flip attempts so far have ended with nothing but pain in the goolies.

Can anyone out there suggest some cool tricks which they've mastered? I don't see too many wakeskates around so it's sometimes a little difficult to get ideas. At this stage I'm just trying to recreate the tricks I know from the skateboard.

Any wakeskate experts out there willing to share a little knowledge??

hey mate, i've spent a bit of time on the skate, but i'm no expert. my repertoire with the kite is limited to shuvs and a few grabs off wave kickers. i'm still trying to get a kickflip landed too.
i reckon the skate is a lot of fun in small surf- sliding on the face and 'grinding' the lip is a whole new way to enjoy small waves.

Yep I spent a season or so on the skate good fun, messing around off waves is good fun with grabs. Apart from all the flip tricks you could try some board of/varial style tricks. Backrolls are pretty challenging off waves (I grab) so thats something to try. Do some toeside stuff- batwings etc,

Expert eeeer no.. but can do the basics.

other ideas..? late shuvits, front an bs shuvits, fs bigspin, flat 1s and 3s, wave kicker grabs i really like, sliding the closeout white water, 180s bs and fs.. dont get stuck up on flips they take a lot of time to learn consistant, get on with other stuff and try em every now and again

some of my trix at end of this vid. had a session with someone else on a wakeskate last week - happens about once a year.

Yeah wear shoes for starters (even though I rooked out in the shot I posted I normally wear volleys).

I can't do tantrums on the skate so no tips there. Back rolls are easier though because the wind keeps the board to your feet for the first part of the trick giving you time to grab and get good pop. Also do a back roll not a back spin, this means a more inverted/off axis type spin, bend your knees and curl up as much as possible to bring the board close to you when you do this- Good luck.

I got a wake skate in the buy and sell.

Perfect condition.

I don't use it.

Red thumbs please.

thanks for the tips. I managed a little session after work yesterday which was productive. It's a slow learning curve.

Hmmm, shuvs, bigspins, 1's 3's... do them unhooked. Kickflips are harder than varial flips in my opinion due to the wind factor. So try varials first.

I haven't been skating much lately but was wakeskating pretty often behind the tinny at one point nad on the kite every now and then. Though behind the kite really just served to annoy me. It's a battle of negatives for me. You can't ride a small skate because it bogs to much (although I am in the vid) and then you are always worrying about what your kite is doing instead of concentrating on the trick. In the end I think it's good to muck around on, but I felt as though I could never get close to the point wakeskating is at now, there's just to much going on to make it look good all the time. I also found skateboarding did little for my wakeskating, if anything it made learning kickflips even harder because it's totally different. Kickflips on a wake is like oldschool mob-flips on a skateboard.

Here's a ****ty vid I made, maybe it will give you some ideas.
